Poor Ben Browder. Screwed by Sci-Fi again!
It is a shame for him. In the "inside the show" just before 200, he said how glad he was just to be working.
Damnit, I thought this was going to say Yahoo! opened up their IM protocols. I thought Video/Voice was going to be right around the corner for GAIM and other open source IM clients.
Just like the subject says, while I've been using Dapper for the last few months, I would have to apt-get install openoffice.org and numerous other packages on several occasions. For some reason their update software would REMOVE them! I'm not sure if they were doing this to get their system to their idea of "pristine", but I found it extremely annoying.
I welcome this release, and keeping the packages I've installed.
TFA doesn't clarify if we can see objects on the other side of what is being hidden. If someone were to place a cloaked object between my eyes and the computer screen, would I still be able to read Slashdot?
Troll me if you want, but whenever I see headlines like this, I can't help but think how utterly ridiculous it is. Innovation will never stop, no amount of commerical or govermental control will stifle the human imagination. Good luck to any entity that tries.
I graduated with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics in Dec. 04. Out of 1200 companies I sent my resume via email, fax, and old fashioned snail mail I had 8 interviews. The article says jobs *are* here in the U.S., I call bullshit. I have many friends who graduated with a higher GPA in CS than I had and they're still looking for a job in their field or any IT field, one for 14 months now.
Adults have more money/time to spend on their games. Kids have to ask the parents to buy a game for them, or get a job to buy the games. If they have a job, and isn't a drop out, they have less time to play.
Or Quicken 2006 Dlx. It won't do any updates (banking, stock quotes, etc.) until after you've registered the software.
And even then, the registration isn't intelligent. I had to re-enter all my personal information instead of just using my existing Intuit login ID. (personal annoyance)
Don't us Linux lovers do just that? Hey, it's open source! That must mean no one could have done *anything* that might make this malicious so it has to be secure. Go ahead, download it, execute it, trust it.
Whew, get me one of these and I'll be safe from the microwave overlords at last!

Oh well, here's to ten great years *raises beer*
Oh come on, just go into your favorite AOL chat room and take a drink of beer every time you see LOL. You'll be drunk in no time!
Ooooh, so that's why people who tend to be more active (on the move) live longer!
Whenever I wear my bluetooth earpiece, I get two common complaints:
- Echo (microphone picking up what the speaker is emitting)
- Wind noise ( windows down in car, riding bicycle, etc. )
This seems to be common among all but some highly priced bluetooth earpieces.
If TFA's subject actually works, I'll be first in line to get one!
Damnit, I thought this was going to say Yahoo! opened up their IM protocols. I thought Video/Voice was going to be right around the corner for GAIM and other open source IM clients.
I reserve my "THANK YOU!" for another day....
This could be a whole new realm of blogging, if only there were a better way to type in text.
Just like the parent says - and to make sure there are no hitches, follow this order:
Update your sources.list
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
(reboot)
And you're all set. Painless.

Many thanks to rpm's and Debian's alien tool, it really isn't that hard to install.

I'm not arrogant. Now get your damn Windows laptop out of my face!
DISCLAIMER: I would never say that to my Mom.
That's right, don't mess with my Tivo.
Not trying to troll here, but if you want to remain Debian based, why not just use Debian?

Just where are these jobs that supposedly exist?
Alright, I've done my searching and can't find a website that will just do comparisons between the different DB options.
...
How about a site that shows me objective views of what Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc. have to offer?
Something along the lines of:
select * ?
Oracle: Yes
PostgreSql: Yes
MySql: Yes
foreign db keys ?
Oracle: Yes?
PostgreSql: ?
MySql: ?
The title misled me into thinking of a computer case, as in what the laptop looks like - not what to put the laptop in.
I hope I'm not the only one who thought wrong.
With all the semi-news posts I've seen on Slashdot the last few weeks, this news about Voyager has made up for it.
Job very well done to ALL members of the Voyager team, wherever you are today.
Can't seem to do much without having Javascript enabled. Sad.

Get me something just as good and/or working under wine and I'll be 100% happy (only 99% now) with Linux.

Subject should read UBUNTO=Debian Desktop Done Right
If you want good/secure servers, stick with Debian. If you want awesome desktops, use its variants.
