I want to see them put a layer of this under the ice surface at hockey games. You could see dynamic advertizements, cool goal celebration sequences, or Fox could have a blue dot circle the player with the puck.:p
So, does this 99 cents cover the cost of your disc in case it is never returned? Basicly their service is a 'loaner's insurance' not a distribution cost.
You missed the point. They have not redefined the scientific method... they are saying that if you approach the Bible in a way that uses science as a backdrop you can draw testable conclusions from it, as opposed to using the Bible as a backdrop for interpreting science.
Many people have posted that ID is not a theory because it has no testable model. Well, that is not necessarily true. Some very smart scientists have put together a testable model and it can be read here.
Personally, I believe that the latest findings in science should be taught, however it should not be presented as *cough* gospel truth. It should be very clear to students that this is still an area where new discoveries are being made and we do not have a 100% reliable model for the way life developed.
Have each person write a paragraph for a story, and allow each other person to edit parts that they feel could use work. Use it as an illustration to show that if people pitch in and contribute ideas to a project work can be fun, and much faster than conventional methods of doing work.
An option for Apple, if they are looking for an offering in the try-before-you-buy market, is to offer an OSX Live CD for download. This would give x86 users a chance to legally get a taste for OSX before dropping $500 on a Mac Mini (or a pricier Dual-G5).
I work for a very large Canadian Government department and I would say 9 out of 10 employees here have a Blackberry (supplied and paid for by the department). We are talking about very large numbers here. I assume things are similar in other departments. These devices are not going away anytime soon, at least in Canada.
Obviously they can mix and match the parts from the dead iPods.
So, when can I start buying refurbished iPods from apple for a (likely less than 10%) discounted price?
I know this is going to sound like typical Linux-fanboyism, but these next gen consoles sound like cheap hardware for a Linux box.
The relatively small form factor, array of features, and powerful hardware seem like the perfect fit for a very powerful Mac Mini-esque Linux desktop computer. I may just hold off on getting one of these new tiny/quiet PCs for now.
Give me a break... I try to make a simpsons reference and you think its some kind of 9/11 flame attempt?
Right. Next time I'll post an episode reference link just to make sure.
*rolls eyes*
The problem I have with games these days is that they aren't finished. Here is what I mean:
When I played Doom 3 I was blown away by the first level. It was the most immersive experience I had ever had in gaming. The sounds were scary, and the atmosphere was compelling.
...And then the first level ended, and so did the scary sound effects, interesting lighting and realistic NPCs.
Its like they stopped trying after level 1. Note to game devs. Finish the game with the same amount of detail you put into the 'hook-em' level 1.
I mean seriously... do we all need to stroke our egos and remind everyone else how smart we are?
NEWS:
Regardless of how much evidence there is for something, someone else will be stubborn and ignore it.
Yes, off topic, but it's nice to see a well written and concise topic summary around here once in a while.
I am sure Sony is highly against this new campaign by Intel.

In Canada, that would make you a law-abiding citizen.

So in effect, you have to upgrade your TV hardware to make it work with LH. Yea, sounds about like Microsoft's business model.
Say goodbye to sending a signal to your livingroom TV, LH users.
How is this kind of 'news' posting any better than reading forwarded emails from other nerds?
Thats what I am saying... they post this flamebait material so that they generate adview cash.
Why would anyone post this to Slashdot? Perhaps the pageview revenue was too good to pass up.
You can't easily demo OSX's ability to "get work done" in the Apple Store.

Just don't make the buildings blue or you will have aircraft crashing into them.
Any chance I could meet some hot girls there?

Gentoo DOES come on a live CD. In fact, you install from the Live CD. Here's the torrent for the x86 Live CD
Step 1: Paint SPREADFIREFOX.com on chest
Step 2: Wear baby-blue tutu under clothes
Step 3: Attend Olympic sporting event
Step 4: Remove clothes
Step 5: Dive from Olympic diving board
Step 6: uh... profit?
