The Nigerian goverment doesn't care about this; the way they see it is that these scammers are bringing a lot of money into the country and have generally looked the other way any time they have been confronted with it.
I remember reading somewhere that the Nigerian goverment has even stopped assisting other countries investigate the scams (no link.. sorry).
All-in-all, I don't see this as any more than a token measure to get countries like the US, Canada, et al to back off a little and will probably make no difference to the victems.
For a site which has quite a bit of information posted about various Nigerian scams (and links to other sites with more info) is http://scamvictimsunited.com/.
"...the US goverment answers to US citizens and buisnesses"
Was I the only person who read this and thought "HA! Thats a good one"? The US Gov't doesn't care about what the citizens think, unless they contribute to the politicians campaign with a large sum of money.
I dont feel like typing a novel here, so I'll be brief.
1 - I buy very few CDs because I think the cost is horrific; especially when I have to work around DRM just to copy the music to my (non-windows media playing) mp3 player.
2 - The CDs that I DO buy, I generally do so because I downloaded a few songs that happen to be on the CD and enjoyed them, so I went out and tracked down the album. If I download somthing and dont like it, I delete it. If I like it, I will probably buy the album. Is it wrong for me to check out the cd before I pay for it? No. If I did not download these files, I would NOT have purchased the albums.
3 - It's people like you that can't see far enough down their own noses and look objectively for the real issues at hand that are the reason the industry is in shambles. Have you ever though that your 'Neich' market may no longer be a popular one? You said yourself that nobody listens to most of what you sell; and to be totally honest, most Christian music I have listened to is god awful (no punn intended). Have you even considered that the demographics in your area may have changed? Or that the teens (who are generally the ones buying cds) are more focused on buying the newest rap-crap the industry is releasing?
Seriously; If you would take an objective look at the issues, you might see that the evil pirates are not the ones destroying your business. Times change, adapt to them or get over it and stop complaining.
And before you go on about your financial position because of your failing business, I am also a business owner and if I was in your position, blacklisting customers is the last thing I would be doing.. Your market is going so adapt your business model to go with it.
I work in a hospital; and we have come up with a very effective way of dealing with hard drives...
Step 1: Low-Level Format
Step 2: Beat drive to bloody pulp
Step 3: Put said drive into the CT Scanner or MRI
This leaves us with a blank, smashed and scrambled drive. At this point, depending on the type of data stored, the remains of the drive head off to the incinerator...
This may sound like going overboard, but we're dealing with patient information, and we take it very seriously.
Any employees with any ethics should have seen the handwriting on the wall a long time ago, and should have gotten out by now. What's left is people who are actively or passively supporting extortion.
The current management, I may agree with you.. But you are unfairly judging the employees who may be working because they have families to support and cannot afford to be out of work. I worked with a company at a job I hated (my bosses also did some unethical things) but I had job security, and chose not to risk leaving my family on the street.
I honestly don't see how you can accuse the secretaries, janitors and other support personnel of supporting extortion...
The site has either been totally shut down by the slashdot effect, or Nasa got sick of us and moved the page...
Anyone know which of the above seems to be the case?

Damn, I ended up with a novel anyways... oh well.
1628 seeds and 3081 peers. Gotta love Slashdot.
Just wait until China wants their money back... Or the Saudis (they have how much money invested in the states?)... Not good.
A couple days ago, I read about the Pentagon planning a first strike strategy using nukes; now I hear about this...
Man, I need to find a nice hard mountain to build a new home in....
Bwa ha ha. I really have nothing valueable to say, so feel free to mod me down :)
I was thinking the same thing.. I dont think they have any shortage of water in the area right now.. they just need to make it drinkable.
But then, I dont think a lot of people are thinking as clearly as they should in this situation.
I was reading through the symantec description of the D varient; and noticed somthing peculiar...
Is it just me or does it primarily remove various spyware-related entries from the registry? (Hotbar, etc)
Is this another example of a virus writer having a positive goal but a crappy method?
...which all of our moms and dads did and we will ALL do sometime called...
Thats it.. hand over your geek license!

Well.. With the prices that most colleges / universities are charging for books, I dont think there is a lot of competition.
The real problem is those damn libraries lending books out for free! How dare they?
At the risk of moving even further off-topic... Are you honostly telling me that you actually bothered to count them?
Besides.. People died for a country and not a flag. Only a sheep-of-a-man would die for a piece of fabric.
Wasnt it Janeway who said "The best way to consider a temporal paradox, is not to consider it at all."
Hah! I threw in the Trek quote, can I have my geek licence back?
Just remember that 87.9% of all statistics are made up on the spot :) (Though I can see the plausibility in what your saying..)
