Not sure where all the hate comes from with regards to the faster release schedule. I run firefox on the aurora update channel (updates daily) with addon compatibility checking disabled and nothing ever breaks. Been running this way for nearly a year as my primary browser at home and at work.
That's as non-antagonistic as I could muster in a thread comparing game consoles. I managed to refrain from naming any specific systems and withheld comments regarding both the sexual preferences of the owners of lesser consoles, and the promiscuity of said console owners' (presumably overweight) mother's.
Makes more sense when you realize its in % of total time using the console. A console that's used twice per month for streaming has a higher streaming percent than one that's used every day for both gaming and streaming.
Also, labels/stars/archiving has been supported by the gmail plugin for a year or two, and is supported without the plugin in OS 7. GP is right though, in that you can't filter based on label. I've been using gmail's filters to both "apply label" and "skip inbox" to prevent certain mail from getting to the device.
I'm not sure why anyone cares what the number says, especially slashdotters, who should be familiar with how meaningless version numbers are. They can go from 4.0.0 to 25.potato::# with a bugfix release for all I care. Posters here often complain about extension breaking or new bugs being introduced, but I've been running firefox's aura branch (which auto updates daily) as my only browser both at work and at home for the last 4 months without any trouble. Version checking is disabled for addons and they all keep working regardless of if they're flagged as compatible or not.
I've experienced this too. The stealth game works right up until you're detected. If that happens you can usually just sprint back a room or two, and not only will the enemies not find you, they usually won't even leave the room they were in to chase you down the hallway they saw you go down.
Also, the boss fights are crap.
Like the GP said, the point of owning patents in this industry is to represent the threat of a countersuit to prevent your competitors from suing you in the first place. That doesn't work in this scenario because you can't countersue Microsoft and Apple if the only patents you own are jointly owned by them too.
Good to see that after all the high profile stuff Anonymous has been linked to lately, they haven't forgotten to continue doing petty, immature stuff for the lulz.
Maybe he's just a guy with cancer who doesn't want to spend his last days dying in the public eye while they discuss how to best profit from his passing?
I see lots of complaints that Watson's buzzer reflexes and instant question parsing time give it an unfair advantage. GOOD. Nobody claimed Watson was supposed to simulate a human playing Jeopardy, it was just supposed to win at Jeopardy. If it can read and buzz in faster than a human ever could then it should absolutely exploit those advantages.
Nothing, but what is the significance of there being nothing between 0.999... and 1? If there is nothing between 0.999... and 1, then you would not the logical conclusion be that there is nothing between 0.888... and 0.999..., therefore 0.888... = 0.999..., and since 0.999...... = 1 then 0.888 = 1 as well?
There's plenty of numbers (infinite) in between.888... and.999... Examples:
.9
.89
.889
.891
What would you say 1 -.999... is? If you're thinking ". an infinite number of 0s followed by a 1," there's no such thing. An infinite number of 0s has no end for you to tack a 1 onto; its just 0.
The problem here is that people are generally very ill-equipped to handle the idea of infinity
Basically this. Infinity isn't a number, its an idea. If you're thinking of infinity as just some huge number, than.999... will never make sense to you.
Maybe I'm just remarkably tolerant of buggy software, but I've been using Firefox 4 as my only browser since beta 1 and I haven't had any complaints once I set the UI up the way I like it. It crashes once or twice a week but who cares? When I start it back up all my tabs are still open and I've lost is a few seconds of time.
Episode 3 was the biggest cinematic missed opportunity I can think of. The whole point of the movie, and the whole point of the prequel trilogy, was to see how and why Anakin went to the dark side. It was the reason we stomached the first two awful movies and should have helped us find new way to look at the original 3 movies. If they could nail that scene, the rest of the garbage might have just been worth it. Instead, the big payoff scene was clumsy and unbelievable and it manages to make all of the prequels all the more pointless. Unless they can get that aspect right, tweaking the rest hardly matters.
// I just made a star wars post on slashdot. Kill me now.
Sony took it a step further by taking ps2 support away entirely. While Microsoft may have stopped updating their backwards compatibility emulation, they certainly didn't remove it or stop making it available. A new 360 will still play the couple of hundred of supported original games, which is handy when you need your SSX3 fix.
It also helps that Diablo 2 was a widely loved game and there hasn't been a worthy competitor in the same genre in the 10 years since its come out. No, Torchlight was not as good.

Sounds like its being worked on: link

I think there's an option for the "cover" key to toggle, instead of having to be held down. At least I think I've seen that on the xbox.

I already have a gaming PC. And an xbox/ps3/wii...
Depends on how you define loser I suppose. They're providing similar services as the ps3, except they're raking in subscription cash while doing it.

Seriously, leave him alone. Even more so if he's actually dying.

*Shrug* I was serious. I don't consider occasional browser crashes to be particularly inconvenient.

Back in 09, Blizzard said their programming team for WoW's engine, gameplay, tools, servers and UI was 32 people total.

I thought it was Spanish for "book"!
Will it ever run all 3 cores at once?
