no 2.5" hdd, no mini pci-x, no firewire - so, no new portable audio workstation for me, i guess i will stick with my good old x31 a little longer - or maybe the x61 prices slump a bit..
you find a lot of free pdfs on the net, and the one hand usage with the wheel for paging is ideal. in plucker you can add one click lookup of words for translation and if you add this font you have the right balance between strong readability and narrow width - I read hundreds of books this way..

As a side note, the GEMA is somewhat different to the RIAA in that they even want a fee from you as an artist if you put your own music (which you registered with the GEMA) on your own website. Thinks this. No joke. There we are in Germany after all our experience with fascism;)
for people outside the US this will be a good thing (TM). here in europe, credit cards aren't so popular as in the US and shop's who only offer payement by credit card (nytimes.com comes to my mind) are just not usable for me (not haveing a CC) so, when paypal finally launches their product, i can stop doing these buys with my mother's CC.
i wonder if fullscreen for flash videos is enabled in wiipera. this way i somehow imagine a myth frontend, on the fly encoded by the mythbackend, in the end a tv in the tv..
..i see some kind of strategy:
beginning with apple's switch to x86, in this case intel, i just have the feeling, that intel, as a secretive company, did trust apple enough to lay out before them there palomino concept, and apple came to the conclusion, that this could be the leverage needed to break into the windows market on the long shot.
when virtualisation on the processor level is finally a reality, it will be possible to run windows "emulation" whithout beeing dependent from microsoft at all, because the windows will run on one of the cores of intel's (or amd's) processors, which will finally be the chance for apple to sell/their/ computers with all what makes them superior/and/ selling full windows compatibillity. than see vmwares announcement to have 3d-graphics support in future products and everything falls into place.

I've been through it in training, so I know exactly what it's like. I still don't consider it torture. This is the same mentality that tells us it's wrong to occasionally discipline a child physically, or to eat meat because "it's cruel to the wiffle cows".
this just makes me wonder if you get taught cynicism or to forget humanity in "training".
what training do you talking about anyway? us army? and you americans really wonder what the world is thinking about you? detaining foreigners without trail (yes, that's a pun), without even knowing why and how long they will be detained comparing with educating children is so brainwashed that i think you should get back to the front lines really soon.

when i need to integrate a lot of services, partly self serviced by the customer, where is the problem in having them intgrated into a usable frontend? just because i can create a customer, with a template of security settings/features for him with the ease of a click doesn't makes me a bit dumber then i was before. it just helps. does it mean i don't know how to secure a server, read a log file, tweak a qmail configuration? no, sorry, it doesn't.
so, next time, write the third reply and think for a second before posting, thanks,
i wonder if this would be the first time, the AV vendors would NOT blacklist a worm/virus which does nothing but disabling WGA and sends itselfs thru outlook like any other of this malwares. I mean, seriously, the joe doe with the disabled windows won't buy mcafee, or does he?
I agree with you in all you said, but, hell, DIGG?! that kindergarden? here the most have at least a little background when they comment, but over at digg, my friend, you won't find windows vs linux flamewars, but XBOX360 vs PS3, Myspace vs. whatever.. hell, I'm sure, the half of those kids don't even know the word flamewar anymore..;)
IMHO MS bought VPC to offer their clients a way to continue running legacy NT servers AND upgrade to new servers (with the attached license). what else VPC runs also is not what MS cares much about. I don't see them even competing with VMWare..
what i really don't get about these widget engines - they are on the bottom of your desktop - but i hardly see my desktop more then once or twice a day (as a windows user). mostly opera is open fullscreen (wherein i read my mail too) and i have the windows taskbar on the right side some 100 pixels wide (1600x1200) so i switch to my applications from there or by alt-tabbing.
sometimes i download stuff to my desktop and have todo a quick Win-M to start it - but these are really the only moments a day i see the background of my desktop. so what use is these dashboard/konfawhatever for me?
and right so. or wouldn't you be a bit annoyed if your doctor expects from you a correct description of your malaise in medical latin when he visits you? speech is best used according to the environment it is used in.

I'm not really convinced that selling an OS without the hardware is such a bad businnes model..
