He forgot Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy. James Cameron was rumored to be making a film of it. Then nothing. The hundreds of dropships launched from the Ares orbiting around Mars, the Martian landscapes, Underhill, the tent towns, the Martian Revolutions, the journey back to Earth, the colonization of Callisto, Mercury, Titania, and Venus and further with the Accelerando.. Wouldn't that be a fucking great film ? Come on! Weren't we talking about going back on Moon and further ?
Interesting to see that what would just involve reading a few lines of code on open source software takes a whole complicated statistical analysis on closed source software...
Your COLOR tag didn't pass through the slashcode filter but we're slashdotters right ? We automagically interpret HTML tagging in the wild with our brains.
Someone suggested to use the coral cache : Link here. As the coral cache is multi-homed, you can be dns-round-robin-ed to a non-US mirror and thus be showed the Non-US notice. Just flush your DNS cache with : "ipconfig/flushdns"; for linux, restart your dns daemon. Try again a few times and it should work.
I'd want a translator to understand IM slang/gibberish. Am I the only one to sadisticaly force my friends to talk normal english by force feeding them with correct english ? They usually give up the chat-speak after a while.
A little offtopic, but does anyone remember that homemade film released in the early days of DivX;) where there was some guy driving on a highway with no trafic only to be landed on by a plane ? The highway was cleared out because the Boeing had to make an emergency landing... The name of the film was something like "highway 411" or something like this. I can't finding back even with the omniscient google:(
"Site overloaded. Either this has been linked from somewhere with heavy traffic, or you're experimenting with a clever script to try and mess with the pictures. Come back later, or stop it."
Maybe we should stop trampling his server till it melts down, move our asses out of this mess and wait for it to return to a solid state ? Ho wait. Maybe I should submit a request to our server melting overlord.
Did you notice the mod_rewrite crazyness ? Weren't URL meant to be somewhat hierarchical ? Not trolling but I think that sometimes Google SEO goes a little too far when the URL is meant to be only usefull to Google and not to the normal human user...
This tech may be better but given all the installed pre-wimax stuff and strong industry support I doubt that anybody will just scrap WiMax and restart all over... Betamax/VHS anyone ?
He should have measured the probabilities of 3 songs patterns for example. This way he would have detected wether iTunes implements something to prevent playing the same song twice in a row. That would be much more interesting I think. (of course to know this he needs to know a little more than just the play count)
OK, further investigations revealed that the whole issue was seriously inflated. It was just about chinese user's (pirated) Windows XP computers being infected by worms and turned into zombies sending gazillions of blaster/sasser/zotob/whatever to.mil computers. OK nothing to worry about. Next story : old korean grand-mothers hacking Pentagon's SMTP servers.
You might be thinking about this mentionned on/. here and this mentionned again on/. http://slashdot.org/articles/00/09/17/1427248.shtm l.
They were using Fluorinert, made by 3M at 500$/gallon. That's not cheap..

In fact, there's a RFC out there covering the IP adressing issues. Have fun.

I'm sure that this is a conspiracy to get the Vogons to destroy Earth by challeging them on writing skills.
..but can they be mounted as a mass storage volume on Linux ?
I double-checked but your link points to the exact same ./ed video as the summary.
This .torrent is not correctly made. The tracker URL points to the direct download link you posted earlier (which is dead by now)

Looked up on Wikipedia . If I read the article right, most refrigerators use this awesome phase change cooling technology. Lame publicity stunt..
