I know how we can make the world 100% happy, completely democratic (although they already are of course):

I think we should give the terrorists a local loopback IP (127.0.0.1) so when they try to attack us, they accidently hit themselves. That'll show em! Shoulda paid more attention to subnetting in college!

This is the goal of a worm? I didn't know that. I have got some catching up to do. I better start "excell"ing myself.

Hopefully those "cookies" won't go stale while I'm catching up.

What was that famous quote? "Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it." I think that's it.

Have we not seen since the days of VCR's and tapes and CD's that things are NOT changing? No matter what, there is always going to be someone trying to circumvent the technology, and someone is going to succeed. I'm compare this with terrorism:

To think that we can stop terrorism is complete hogwash. We may kill a ton of bad apples, but there's always gonna be atleast one more guy that thinks he's saving the world from the "infidels" by blowing himself up in public.

Rather than fight the technology, work with it and in a more positive direction. Don't just try to keep finding "patches". The day piracy ends will be the same day Windows FINAL, Completely Patched Edition comes out.

Now, I'm off to combat childhood obesity and global warming!

I am so fed up with people bitching about Microsoft. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. If you do use it, you have no right to complain. It's like the idiots that complain about the president but didn't vote. 1. I was a web developer for 7 years and sure, maybe it took a little more effort to get things to work right in IE. But that's the reality of the world. Personally I think it's more annoying having to put a font tag inside every single table column to satisfy Netscape's misunderstanding of tables. But hey maybe that's just me. 2. It's a freakin' Beta! 3. Get over yourselves. If you want to use a completely flawless browser, build one, get one, or quit bitching. Ahhh, that's better.....had to let that out.

  15. Why the Windows Bashing? on Running Windows With No Services · · Score: 1

Why does the slashdot crowd always insist on beating the hell out of Windows? Sure there are flaws and vulnerabilities but every system has these I think Windows takes the most heat because it is the most commonly used.

Personally, I'm running a 2 or 3 year old computer with Windows XP and the thing boots up in about 20 seconds. I haven't had a single instance of spyware since the combination of SP2 and Spybot.

As a network admin, I find the tools supplied by Microsoft to be pretty helpful. I can basically do my job without ever having to leave my desk thanks to group policy and all the MMC functionality. Hell I don't even have to physicall go to the server to edit the policies.

As for the new version of Windows...Why don't you all have a contest to see who can come up with a more generic line than "Wow it looks like a Mac now! We waited x amount of years for a new desktop theme! etc etc etc"

I recognize that Microsoft is a monopoly but they also have a decent product. Lighten up!

This really upsets me as well. This 'kid' kills several people and then decides to blame everyone but himself. That is the problem with this country. Everybody wants to blame someone else but they are the one to blame for not addressing their mistakes.

I think it's sick how this kid can turn the blame and probably now even make a profit out of his non-related murder. I play GTA quite frequently too but I'm pretty sure I was raised well enough to not kill people.
