  1. Re:Obligatory on Online Call To Shoot President Ruled Free Speech · · Score: 1

There's no need to criminalize the speech. If you call for someone to kill someone, and they do, then you can be charged with conspiracy to commit murder if it can be shown that they did so by your request. Shouting fire in a crowded theatre likewise does not deserve to be criminalized. Charge the person with reckless endangerment, and if someone died manslaughter. Badgering someone and repeatedly using racial slurs against them can likewise be dealt with under harassment laws. This is easy people, restrictions on free speech do nothing that can;t already be covered by existing laws.

If I stay in the hospital, I'm never on the hook for more than $1500; my insurance pays the rest. Granted I am single and young, but I'm not exactly going bankrupt here. I'm sure if you have a large family or are otherwise unhealthy it can be a a huge burden, but if you can't afford that then it pays to not have kids and just take care of yourself.

That would get the attention of an already cash starved govt. How about you stage massive non violent protests? Certainly worked for Gandhi. This isn't the dark ages; we don't have to cut off the king's head to make change. But we DO need people who are actually willing to act instead of just talk, something I doubt you're capable of. 120 and 240 fps actually do make a difference with 24p material. If your TV is running 60fps, 24 doesn't go evenly into that and so you have to either telecine the material or duplicate certain frames. Either way this affects the motion of the film by causing jittering. if your TV runs at 120 or 240 fps, 24 goes into that and so you don't need to worry. Each frame can be displayed for the same length of time, and you get smoother motion. 60 also goes into these, so all 720p and 1080i content will play smoothly as well.

  15. Re:No *SOLO* Game is Worth $60 on Dollar Apps Killing Traditional Gaming? · · Score: 2

Developers just aren't in general focusing on providing a challenging single player experience that one needs to keep playing to master. I mean, look at a game like Super Meat Boy. Single player, but there's no way you'll explore everything it has to offer even in 20 hours. Maybe more. I continually spend a great deal of money to import Cave shooters from Japan. These games can easily be beaten in 30 minutes on free play. The appeal, is that to actually get good enough to 1CC them and get a good score, take months and months of practice. What's killing the single player games market in my eyes is the focus of single player on storytelling. Instead of being about getting good enough at the game to conquer all the challenges it has to offer, developers are treating the single player mode as merely a way to tell their story, and so design the campaigns to be easy to beat (so their story can be told). It's been a very long time since a major release has actually been challenging to finish the single player portion of. The appeal of multiplayer is obviously that you can get better and better since you're playing actual humans. You used to have to get better and better to beat the single player portion of many games, but this is no longer the case, and in many cases 100%ing can be accomplished even by beginners. That's why it's dying.

Modern cutting has to do with modern directing. Now that everything is shot digitally for the most part, directors tend to roll lots of cameras from lots of angles since it is cheaper than burning through film, and as such try to 'find it in editing'. Rather than plan out a few shots well, you tend to get many more that are less interesting, and so cutting is actually required to keep it interesting. Rare is the director nowadays who takes blocking seriously, and yes it's disappointing.
