Considering the fact that the only decent returns they have had on animated movies recently have all come from Pixar, one would think that it would take less than 10 years for them to figure this one out!
What we need is an amendment to the constitution that sets up a 4th branch of government. Congress is responsible for making laws, what we need is another branch of government responsible for destroying laws!
...a computer!
Also, while the basics (Internet, Phone, Print Supplies, Fax, etc) should obviously be included, so should the percentage of rent/mortgage for the space you use as an office.
I would probably include an umbrella insurance policy since I assume workplace insurance policies do not apply to telecommuting.
I often wonder at the application of the scientific method in many of these studies. Kind of difficult to setup control groups, null tests, negative hypothesis, etc. Could there be bias? Did they reframe their hypothesis and test that? What about societal differences?
I mean, I for one kind of like the violence in video games. It causes me to not shoot up the office:p
have you considered the fact that they might already support sourceforge by using sourceforge enterprise internally? note: i have no clue if they do or do not, but to instantly accuse them of not supporting sourceforge via product purchase just seems rather rude to me.
I hate false floors;) I prefer the "false ceiling" -- those foam ceiling tiles that can be suspended from the rafters.
A lot less expensive, easier to install, hides annoying infrastructure, dampens noise, and (IMO) easier to access than a false floor (getting up on a ladder and mucking with cables is better on my back than kneeling and trying to access stuff in a false floor).
After years of "you're in computers, I'm having a problem...." and having to explain that not every "computer person" knows everything about every computer program, operating system, peripheral, etc. I know ask "Is this on Windows?" If yes I say "Sorry, I don't do Windows, don't know anything about windows, and really do not want to."
But what about if they said no? That's happened about 3 times, in each case a simple google found the solution, the user was savvy enough to fix it, done.
1) To achieve ownership, they only need 50.1% of the outstanding shares.
2) At 10% they can get at least one board member and an inside look at everything from the books to next years release plans.
3) Dumping even 5% of the stock could cause the stock to plummet. Ubi now needs cash reserves to cover this.
At best, with 20% ownership, they can disrupt the company from within. At worst, they could use 20% as leverage to a takeover. For instance, they can start a proxy fight and only need to swing 30.2% of the vote (19.9 + 30.2 == 50.1).
While I agree with all his other short reviews, this one was so off base.
1) The eMac is the educational mac, it was not even really meant for home users, but for a school lab environment. It has the original iMac look for a reason: fewest moving parts possible.
2) It is most definitely NOT a gaming machine.
3) So we only do backups to DVDs anymore?
4) Too lazy to get a peripheral?
No, what I said was maybe the genre is not for you. Perhaps I should have emphasized the maybe. And I was not suggesting that the time spent in the game was the issue, but the economics of playing the game (cost per hour).
Sheesh, you know, I understand that some people were pounding the author of this a bit, but that was not the intent of my post. Take a deep breath and relax, man. The entire world is not plotting against you.
Free is not a good idea. Free means something like Diablo 2, which was static and boring after only a short period of time.
Personally, I'd rather see something along the lines of free download plus monthly fees or if I am going to be charged for a CD, give me 3 months free.
While I really enjoy (*cough* am addicted to *cough*) WoW, I think 1 month free for a $50 box was a bit much.
I also think that if one can only do about 5 hours in an MMORPG, maybe that game genre just isn't for them?
D2 became so annoying with the channel spam. So much so that I just couldn't bring myself to play it anymore.
The WoW built-in auction house and their attempts to take care of the eBay crap means that this game will probably remain a very immersive world with very little "bad" spam.
um, what about the new 18xx games developed in Europe?
18EU and Namibia are new this year. I like 18EU quite a bit, even if it is more of a builder game.
scott mcneally, bill gates and steve jobs all become best friends and go golfing together every thursday; osama bin laden admits that george bush is really a nice guy; and aliens really did abduct elvis, now he's back, and he's going on tour...
when did/. become the national enquirer?
Found (and reported) another annoyance (not sure if it is Mac specific or not, though):
When mining, do not chat. The scenario is:
Start mining.
While mining, type a message.
When done mining, you will crouch in the loot position.
The side effects are:
No loot box.
Cannot mine the vein further.
Cannot loot any kills until logging out.
Stuck in crouch position until you stand.
Whether crouching or standing, you glide instead of walking, unless you jump, then you will stand and walk for about 3 steps, then resume gliding in standing position.
My assumption is that this would be true of gathering as well, but have not verified.
After playing the Open Beta, I was suffering withdrawals when the servers were taken down prior to general release. Because I had beta-residue on my primary computer, I was suffering withdrawals until I finall got the install to complete...
I was expecting a Warcraft version of Diablo2...boy, was I ever wrong! Very immersive. Blizzard always impresses me with their world design (just walking around is impressive) and their UI implementation.
A couple of annoyances:
It would be nice to have a friend channel, or at least to send messages to everyone on the friends list. Mainly because some people play both factions and it would be nice to be able to communicate with all of my friends at once. Along those lines, it would be nice to organize the friends list so that they could be sorted by the person's name ($#Q@!@ what was his/her gnome's character name?).
The method for getting onto a new realm server might want to be investigated. I mean, if you constructed three characters on a relatively new realm, and this realm has low lag, and then everyone and their brother's dog's newt starts playing on it; why should those who originally migrated suffer? Especially with a subscription game! At LEAST they segregate by continents now! That was just a mess with Diablo2.
Just my $2*E-02, YMMV.
Started off great, lost me with the port switch...the 80's called, they want their switch back!
The correct answer was rack-mounted RAICs + laptop + VNC. Then create a VPN via your router and swap computers on the fly all the time.
Sometimes I wonder about people...
...I own a mac, so my computer is already cool! ...oh, I think they meant how do I control the thermal build up...my bad.
Considering the fact that the only decent returns they have had on animated movies recently have all come from Pixar, one would think that it would take less than 10 years for them to figure this one out!
It's called a Star Trek convention in the U.S.

no, it could merely indicate a million fixes for the same problem.

How do new legit players get in if these people only play on these passworded channels and games?
The other theory, without mumbo-jumbo, is that they are jerks, always have been jerks, and will probably die jerks.

I always thought spatial IQ tests checked one's capability for critical thinking.
