Of course, I submitted that as a/. article, but it got rejected(different news site than msnbc though, but I can't find the site I used right now)...ah groussing!
Hate to burst your bubble here, but it's incredibly EASY to create a trojan horse in Linux. All you have to do is convince the user to run the program, and if they do that, no matter what the OS, the program the user runs has all the same privlidges as the user. Meaning if I want to covertly send all the user's files to an offsite location, I can because the user has read access to all those files. Sure I can't delete the whole hard drive, but seriously, what is the point in doing that? Even if you do delete the whole drive, outside of the home directories, who cares? Seriously, the kernel files are easily replaceable, the home directory files much less so....In conclusion, that was a pointless, completely wrong post by an open source fanboy, ie something that is incredibly common here...
*Note:I did not say that open source OSs do not have any security advantages, they usually do. However, the parent decided to mention trojan horses which are the easiest of all malware to write and probably the hardest to protect against.

If you are that worried, get a one time use number, most credit cards can generate them online. You use it once, and poof, in a few hours it is no longer valid.
Don't you think you are creating a false dichotomy though? For example, I am by no means an introvert, but I sometimes have trouble with doing/saying things impulsively. So where do I fit in? Honestly, I think this whole thing seems a bit fabricated, personality cannot be distilled into two catagories very easily(if at all)
I think you are seriously over-estimating how much of an effect linux really has on the xbox(minimal at best). I'm sure far south of 1% of all xboxes out there are running/have ever ran linux, so I highly doubt Microsoft would create huge disruptions in supplies just to stop this behavoir.....
Ok, so not very widely spoken, but despite rampant racism against ethnic Koreans in Japan, a lot of younger Japanese are really getting into Korean culture and are starting to choose Korea over the Americas and Europe as their favorite international tourist destination. (namely because of Korean soap operas, but that is beside the point). Sony would probably lose a significant chunk of sales in its home market if it neglected to include Korean.
Can it translate half translated texts already? For example:
I want knulla with a hora but I have only sex krona so she shows me her fitta, I say "Tak!" and go home to do a little runka with my kuk.
Remember Atari did NOT actually charge to license games for the 2600, so they had to be making a profit on the hardware. However, that led to some REALLY bad games being produced, and people associated the bad games with Atari, thus abandoning the franchise. When the NES came on the scene, Nintendo really started the "pay us to make a game for our console" business.
I didn't say open source wasn't important, but be realistic, it's not the end-all of technology. However, if you would look at the slashdot headlines, you would believe that just using the words "open source" alone will solve every problem ever created. Also, a lot of the "open source" stuff reported here isn't noteworthy, but slashdot reports on it anyhow. Furthermore, so many other organizations have adopted the word that it has become incredibly diluted, like the "open source energy" website I mentioned in the previous post. However, slashdot still reports what they say like it was a religion.
It's more than just the dupes though, slashdot is no longer a "tech" site whatsoever, it's mostly a political blog now. If your submission has the words "open source", it is pretty much automatically accepted, even if it is incredibly stupid(open source energy is a great example of this). Also, if it's anti-RIAA/MPAA, auto-accepted. Other auto-accept topics include Apple worship, Microsoft bashing(this coming from an Apple freak myself!), or Linux fanboy-ism. If you actually have a submission discussing an interesting aspect of *gasp* technology, your shot at getting your submission accepted is slim(though thankfully still not 0). Ways to increase your chance at getting accepted is to a)write a sensationalist headline that has nothing to do with the article or b)tack on the words "open source" to the end of your submission(ask slashdot is especially keen on this)...
It's no longer "News For Nerds" it's "Ideology for groupthinkers".....
It's not that bad, as long as you buy a phone that is compatable with your network(the US has both CDMA and GSM, as well as you have to have tri-band, where in Europe, IIRC, your cell phone uses dual band), you can use it. However, if you take a provider subsidy on your phone, they will lock it down so you cannot use it on other networks, but that is what you get for buying a locked down phone.
Also keep in mind that usage charges in the EU, even if you factor in the fact that you can receive calls for free, are still much higher than they are in the US. And the whole "You can get cell phone coverage anywhere in Europe" is also BS. I use vodafone and I don't get reception in my town in Bavaria, also had some problems in Nuremberg. Never had any problems when I was in the US with reception......

Actually Sony's gaming division is doing quite well(comparatively) to the rest of the company which is suffering blow after blow after blow. Meanwhile, Nintendo is a company that only does video game stuff*(technically they still make Japanese playing cards, but that is a very small portion of their business), and Nintendo has only 1 quarter on record that they ever made a loss, and that was the quarter that the dollar was at one of it's lowest points since Nintendo starting exporting heavily to the US, and Nintendo didn't forsee that.
