I swear that when the new iPad was first released the disclaimer only said something like, "4G not available in all areas". The Wayback machine doesn't have data for something so recent - is there anything else available?
The 2 major differences between the Australian and the US system is that in Australia if you don't earn above a certain threshold you don't have to pay it back and that the interest rate is limited to the level of inflation. We don't have the same kinds or problems with student loans as the US because there is no money to be made.
If Google gives a damn they'll add a new clause requiring that the manufacturer and the carrier agree to release updates for a certain length of time. These companies would do the work if it meant not getting access to all the nice Google Apps in the future.
Have a look at OpenSatNav:
http://opensatnav.org/
It's an open source version of AndNav2 with worldwide routing and POI search based on OpenStreetMap. It's probably best to check out the nightly builds as a lot of bugs have been fixed but haven't made it into a release yet.
Unfortunately, it's still very beta. They're shipping out a bracket that will stop it falling over due to being top heavy. It blows my mind to think how this got through testing! The software isn't very good and I wish they would just ship it with Ubuntu instead of trying to roll their own.
What I don't get is why people haven't started sneaking in cameras and taking the pictures themselves. The rentacops there can't make you delete the photos, and I'm sure that legally they can only ask you to leave. I think you could take lots of photos before they even noticed. After a while I'm sure we'd get all 3000 images!
The first thing we need is free map data. All current maps have very tight legal terms, which makes this kind of thing impossible.
Check out http://www.openstreetmap.org/, there might already be decent maps where you live. For navigation you can use TangoGPS but there are other programs available too.
Using the Android Dev Phone in Australia, the program appears on the Market and I can use it fine. Even if you are on T-Mobile, all you have to do is go to the developer's site:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
and install the apk file.
The app only works if you already have root access, so installing the app manually shouldn't be a issue!
Many devices made in earlier times only support WEP, or don't have new drivers that provide that support. Even things like the Nintendo DS doesn't support more than WEP.
I would actually like to have to remember where the left button ends and the right button begins, if it's in the middle Apple fanboys could probably remember too:)
The Vista DRM can still turn off the output if you are using a non DRM device and attempting to play protected content. The only reason the medical PC mentioned will not have this happen is because of the backlash that would result if they allowed VGA monitors onto the 'untrusted' list. How long will it be until most devices are HDCP compatible, and MS decides to restrict the use of VGA monitors?
When the government owns the media, and actively censor it to suit their aims, and continually persecute the opposition party, voting means nothing. How long has the current party been in power for now? 50 years?
The Australian Capital Territory has been using this software for their past two elections, and it's released under the GPL, and runs on Linux. I've just looked through a bit of the code, and I would like it to have documentation that describes it at a high level, and I'm sure they could make some improvements. Even so, it's still much better than (cough) other systems! http://www.elections.act.gov.au/Elecvote.html
No it's not at all. Firefox's security alerts were either not being exploited or were being exploited on a very small scale.
Geeks have been using other browsers for so long they've forgotten or have never seen how bad IE really is. I'm just angry about being excited about my new job only to have to going through the pain of removing hundreds of malware programs! IE7 won't help either - they don't have Windows Update turned on, or they have some new malware that turned it off.
Should work good with the NVidia drivers, though fan noise will be a problem for a dedicated HTPC. Try a 6200, as it has all the great video output features and a passive heatsink. PCIE versions can steal memory from the system RAM too if you need it.
"For a long time I've been trying to get a list that will appear like a table"
The table tag gets a lot of bad press, but using it to display a table is really a good idea. Screen readers and the like will understand what it is, instead of failing on a hacked up bit of CSS that only looks like a table.
Umm, why are we talking about this "conspiracy" when the last link talks about things like an FM tuner and an LCD controller in the Shuffle? Isn't that much more interesting?;)
Linux developers have to learn to work together. I'd like 3 or 4 live CDs that are great, instead of all these merely good or OK ones. However, as long as it's easier to start a new project rather than extend on existing work, this splintering will continue.

Yes please!

you can carry it around and use it to browse the web and receive calls, as well as using it in-vehicle for navigation.
Except that it hardly works. Soldered on that 1mm capacitor yet?

Remember when we were pissed off about the Processor Serial Number on Pentium III's? Those were the days :)
Maybe we've evolved to not like the smell of rotting humans, therefore buryingthem is a good idea :)
Want proof that it's not legit? We've slashdotted it. Yeah, that doesn't really happen to a big site such as Amazon.

All the images on the linked page are exactly the same as the site selling them.
Errr... You'd wish it was like that. Many phones don't have this much security (most Nokia, some Sony Erricson, and more)
