According to the article:
“Passengers, as in this case, who refuse to comply with security procedures are denied access to the secure gate area. He was escorted out of the screening area by local law enforcement,” the official said.
I work as a dev for one of the biggest game companies. Around me, in the studio, are close to 100 programmers. Over the last 4 years I have only met 1 (one) programmer without a university degree. He got fired at some point when cuts were made, but not for lack of coding skills. So your chances of finding a job without a university degree here are 1/100. I would do a CS degree! Of course, very little of what you learn in school will be used, so it may be that you can use those 3 years of your life to get a kick ass game out on your own, and even make money instead of spending on tuition. tThe experience gained this way will make yo employable right away. But realistically speaking, very very few people have the discipline to do it.
An article where a dude named Bonner Gaylord will name his children after the Google founders is just an excuse for an April first warm-up. Some people just can't wait to get started with the pranks.
Same thing in Montreal. I had my mind set to change my old oil/electric furnace and heat pump with a geothermal system. The total price after federal and provincial rebates was over 3 times more expensive than other "regular" systems. We calculated that you need 14 years to break even, and start to save any money in heating/AC cost. Not worth for us.
I had such a contract, forbidding me to work to any of the company's competitors for 1 year after leaving the company (video game industry). I got a much better job for their main competitor and just took my chances (a penalty of 6 month salary was specified in the contract). The hiring company assured me that the clause is not enforceable and that they will defend me in the event that I am sued. A simple calculation will show everyone that more $ is lost by suing, and the "example set" will not bring any goodwill from existing employees. In the end the old company was very nice about it, and no pressure was made on me, in fact they asked me to reconsider and stay. On my side, I kept everything very quiet, and only told a few people where I'm heading to, which was appreciated by management.
The damaged tiles then absorbed about 540 kilograms of rain Not to be anal but you cannot measure a liquid in kilograms, especially in a summary to a technical article. I know that most of the Slashdot crowd is not proficient in metric measurements (sigh...) but just in case you care, it should have been "540 liters".
This will replace both ink and paper. I doubt there is any money to be made in selling paper, however there are lots of money in ink. So by selling the special paper you are in effect selling ink, and getting a cash cow. So the printers may still be sold at cost, while the actual paper will be overpriced.
I read nothing about Romania. The article talks about US and Polish citizens. Maybe anonymous submitters should be scrutinized a tad more by the editors.

Oh, and this is a board game not computer game. You can download and print the board/cards/rules etc and play it. The game is not for sale and it doesn't have a license from Hasbro.

The basis of Atkins diet is the drastic reduction of sugar in it's various forms from your diet. Practically, every word that ends with "...ose" (fructose, lactose etc) is sugar. Dr. Atkins started his campaign against the mass consumtion of sugars in cabonated drinks, refined carbohidrates, starches etc back in the 70's. This is one of the reasons that the interested industries did everything in their powers to stop his research and promoted a campaign of ridiculling his claims. I can tell you that after eliminating sugar and related from my diet I lost a lot of wight, and kept it off for more than 2 years and running. All the result of the study were documented in the Atkins books for a long time.
This study is just one in a more recent trend confirming his research and it shows that the "food piramid", along with the FDA and the medical establishment, which aproved and promoted the piramid, are partially responsable for the epidemic of type 2 diabeties and obesities.

I get the feeling that the company is treating everyone as criminals: guilty until proven innocent. I would never buy a product from them. The whole credit system is based on the assumption that people are responsible and pay their debt. Yes, there are losses, but they are taken into account in pricing, insurance and credit rating. Giving credit was what made a lot of businesses stay afloat, because many people cannot afford to pay cash for their purchases. When you start treating people like criminals is just like reverting to cash and carry: you get paid for sure, but you lose custommers who are not sure thay can pay, although it turns out they could've. Too bad they never took the risk.
You and all the other people looking to find employment in the gaming industry have the wrong impression about what happens in a studio. I work for one of the largest cell phone game developers and while for most of the day we program, we also play a tremendous amount of games. At lunch time, almost every computer has a game on it (CS, etc), and the same can be said at the end of the day, when people stick around a little more to play. This of course doesn't include the mandatory game playing you need to do as part of your job, when you program new features ar fix bugs found by QA. There's always gameplay in this business, even when you are programming day-in-day-out.
Fox had also released an excellent game (Grand Theft Auto ripoff.. but nonetheless) based on the series, called "The Simpsons Hit and Run". I am afraid to think how they will "localize" and adapt this game to play to the local market. Actually come to think of it, spreading mayhem in American cities should play quite well with the local audience.
Doough to infidels!
It should be noted that the dead birds are from an area next to the Danube's Delta, which is the biggest delta of Europe, and where millions of wild birds from many species live or pass through on their migration route. It is therefore little surprise that such a busy nexus was touched by the virus. As far as I know, this particular virus was not thought to be dangerous to humans as such, but the possibility if it combining with the human version was the concern.
I looked at the list of games and they are all old titles, the most recent are from about 4 years ago. I was wondering how can they make money form such a system. Most of these games should be freeware by now, have been riped off as new flavours of a classic, or are available in public libraries. You just have to look a bit harder, so I'm not sure it's a well thought idea, unless it markets to very casual gamers, with little or no experience.

I'm not happy with the way he manages his DNA. I think I'll fork it.

Articles about these "models/babes" keep coming, but no links to judge by ourself. Here's a few from Gamecloud: one, two, and three.
