I don't think regular players see this action against Glider as Blizzard being "bullies". I mean, they are trying to stop cheaters. How is that bad for the normal folks that want to game to be fair?
Well, that's not strictly speaking truth: Insurance companies would like to know how sick or healthy you are, but you yourself or anyone else don't really need to know.
Firefox 3 will by default check for updates automatically at times when running. If there are new updates available it will install them automatically AND show a warning box saying the update might break some add-ons.
They still want money for their music, don't they? I mean, you can download for free but you should pay if you have money and like their music. So it's more like "pretty much like Metallica, but with a different attitude."
Uh no. Only those interested in the shiny graphics will buy/download the game, but the real money lies elsewhere, meaning the game has to be good. Just about all the big hits don't have superb graphics, just superb gameplay.
Unfortunately it's rather difficult to create games like Diablo, Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft every year, and get the players interested.
Yes it will, if the program/whatever runs in a virtual machine environment like.NET CLR or Java VM. In that case, one of the CPUs/cores could take up garbage collection, for example, which of course would work better that one CPU/core doing all the job.
Also, one core could handle I/O operations like TCP/IP.
Hmmm... why would you re-buy Vista if it most likely already comes preinstalled with your gaming rig? And as for Vista vs XP, I don't really think there's much difference in gaming speed. Except of course here in slashdot world where Vista sucks no matter what... For some reason I have no trouble with mine.
I think my original argument stands: $600 is NOT a lot of money for a gaming PC, and of course you can use for a lot of other things you cannot use console for, like spreadsheets, 3d modelling etc.
But I would not buy a PC just for gaming... maybe Xbox360 for the next Christmas for myself:)
But these "insane" hardware requirements are very cheap, so they are really not insane, don't you think? I mean,a decent gfx card and 2 gigs of RAM don't cost a fortune like it used to.
And why blame Windows: It provides a very good platform for game developers.
I do agree with the console argument, though. Which is why I see no real reason to buy a PC for gaming anymore. I mean, why would you? Just buy the damn console.
Actually they are not computer savvy. They are web site/portal/messaging/icon clicking savvy. Kids do not know about computers any more than 20 years ago, maybe even less.
Gates is donating his personal money, which came from selling his MS stock. Not from selling MS products. So in essence he's donating money that was originally "donated" by the parties who bought MS stock:)
Well, there's other things good about Java, such as massive support from other Java developers across Internet, literature and major vendors that come to mind...
Yes, but a lot of people raving in their cars would not do anything OUTSIDE the car, either. It's pretty easy to yell at people when you are driving with the windows closed.
Maybe they got tabbed browsing from Opera. You know, from the same closed source browser that Mozilla did :P

I'm thinking ordering my next double scotch with some Martian rocks, baby!
Isn't that why DRM was invented in the first place? For the media companies to try to embrace the Internet as a distribution media?
Oh yeah, we are supposed to oppose that...
And BTW, downloading illegal MP3s is not a civil liberty.

Why can't you run the same (probably open source) caching-only server on Windows? Without shelling out the big bucks :)

Seriously.

Because most quack doctors cause more trouble than they're worth, which makes the patients treatment later on even more expensive.
And for the record, the medical care costs so much in USA because of your idiotic legal system which is targetted on rewarding bullshit law suits.
Why is it fatally flawed again? I must have missed the "Slashdot related correct allowed opinions about RIAA" memo. RIAA seems to be doing very well.
$20 times two = $40
$200 times two = $400.
It's not the same when you pay $20 extra when compared to $200 extra. Don't let percent math fool you otherwise.
Don't forget nuclear plants also bring in a lot of jobs.
Windows XP in it's current state IS pretty much rock solid. Ubuntu is not. Saying otherwise is just fooling yourself.
Oh so if someone calls you an asshole, and finds maybe 10 other people who can confirm this as true, it's ok? Because it's "proven"?
What about if call a black man with the n-word? It's true, after all?

You mean a Windows XP download torrent? We would not want the people out there to think PB actually hosts these files, do we :)
And if you were to be stripped of all electronic equipment before seing the movie, how would you be able to record it?
No, he has an awesome built-in detector of what you think is BS.
There's a difference.
