Well, I'm no german, but I will be living in Germany from now until 2007. I can say this much: german people tend to follow the rules straight through. I've spoken with some young germans, and I've also made comments about downloading 1 or 2 cds, mainly for educational purposes since these cds don't seem to be at the local library. And every time I get a scared face saying "but downloading is illegal!! you shouldn't do it!". So there you are. Germans, IMHO, seem to follow rules no matter how good or bad they are.
Once again, that's my opinion.
So by saying M$'s ambition is to be bigger than Google, does it mean they already are second best??
Or third best??
Or fourth, fifth, etc??
Just askin'
Well, well, well!!!
It seems Mexico is not the only one doing stupid things. You think this argument is bad?? You should take a look at what Somexfon is doing (link in spanish). Basically, they want to charge you for every single piece of music you hear, wether in your car, home, public place, etc. even after you've bought the cd. For example, if a bus driver's listening to a song, he will be charged a certain amount of money because the passangers are also listening. Sounds stupid?? Well, it is!!!
"your days are numbered??" Whoever wrote this headline hasn't listened to music in his life. Perhaps he has heard music, but never really listened.
You cannot compare a human guitar player to a robot/machine guitar player. Music is about expressing emotions, feelings, thoughts, etc. A machine has not, up to this day, been able to do such thing. You don't have to build a "robot" to see an example. Just download a midi file and listen to it. It will sound, like someone said, too perfect and with no "feeling" whatsoever.
I really doubt the day will come when us musicians are replaced by machines. Or at least I hope it doesn't come.
Even though I rarely use Hotmail anymore, the few emails that were sent to my account have been lying in the "Junk" ever since (1 year). I've never gotten a "straight" email, even those coming from Yahoo! and other free webmail services.
If M$ wants to inforce a standard, that's fine with me as long as it's safe and well done, and by the looks of M$ software so far, I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
I work for a small school that's starting a pilot program on language learning. We use the internet for audio & video, and although we have some lag, it's working quite well.
If ISP sign this document, it would mean no more language learning for kids. Nice move, guys.
That just goes to show how little you know about Catholicism.
Of course, if you're not catholic, please ignore this post.
But if you are... well, in the end you'll be the one doing the sucking.
Well, that's pretty much what I did. I even have the MS-DOS 5.0 User's Guide right in front of me. Not that I read it anymore, bat that helped me open the world of computers when I was 11. I played Lode Runner when I was 7, & the first PC I can remember is an old 8086 or 8088. I also remember when my dad upgraded to a 286 with colors!! That was a big day & I even wanted to see Louts 123 in color, just for the sake of it. I also remember programming Logo & Basic. Not that I ever got to serial ports, but it was useful.
Well, Yahoo! Mexico has POP access and it's not charging a single penny for it. I tried to open an USA account for POP access, but then I saw that you had to pay for it. I hope they never charge for POP access here in Mexico. However, 100MB of storage space is pretty good. Plus I've got my gmail account.

Well, there goes Big Brother... again.
Now here's something other web browsers should also include in themselves. Let's hope that M$ also "copies" this feature into de "new" IE 7.
Is this for real?? The site has an internal (500) error. Probably hacked by M$... not.
And here I thought it had something to do with K-Pax
that make me give thanks for living in a 3rd world country... I think.

That's called Marketing.
What a weird sense of humor Europ has. Only the second one was mildly good.

"...their colletions, and made them freely available available online."
Perhaps it's too early in the morning to be double checking orthography?
Do slashdot editors think we're stupid?? It's the 2nd repeat today!!!
That's what you get when you vote for a puppet in the White House. That and that you, the people, just couldn't make up you mind.

It's got IRC Chat. Therefore I don't need to download yet another program for IRC. It's the same reason why I use Trillian.
