And then there is Schindler's List. It basicly silly to include Schindler's list and not include some of the original holocaust movies, such as Europa Europa.

While we're on the subject of Holocaust movies that should be present, I'd like to add "Life is Beautiful". This movie managed to be uplifting and fun while still revealing the horrors of the holocaust(I know that doesn't sound right, but watch it and you'll understand). It is definately a top film of the subject and should also be up there with the top 100 list.

Along the foreign film line, I'm glad to see City of God on the list.

Come on, it's only one issue. Time magazine covers social aspects of life too, not just the death and destruction, gloom and doom, etc. It's nice to have an issue once in a while that doesn't make you depressed. You can still get your "THE WORLD IS ENDING TOMORROW" "AIR CAN KILL YOU" "KITTEN MURDERED BY 5 YEAR OLD BOY" stories on the local news in the mean time.

I don't know if you were spoiled as a high schooler, but aren't kids 16 and older supposed to get jobs?? I got one at the grocery store as soon as I turned 16 and so did my brother and so did many of my friends. Those employees at Burger King and McDonalds are all teenagers.

While they don't make much money, they all live at home and are supported by their parents. That means the money made at their job (which for me working 20 hours a week at $6.00 an hour is $120 gross per week) can be spent on toys.

Of course with me and most others, a good portion of that salary went to college savings. I think it was something like 30-50% that I put away, but even with a $60-100 weekly income, it would only take a couple months to save up for a new game console. This isn't even taking into account the massive cash inflow for full time summer work.

I'll give you college students are broke, but those 16-18 year olds have lots of extra cash to spend. Also, my friends and I often spent it on other things like car accessories and clothes, but for those who like to play games, they would have the means.

The reason most jedi die in episode III (I propose) is that they will be taken by surprise. The dark side clouds their vision so they do not see an attack coming. Imagine a Jedi saying to a clone commander "Very well carry out my order" and then when he turns to walk away he is blasted from behind. There's not much you can do for that. Yet some like Yoda and Obi-Wan will be able to escape by perhaps realizing the plot beforehand so they can defend themselves.

  15. Artist first? What about collaborative albums on Organizing MP3s and Other File Collections? · · Score: 1

I've got many albums in my collection that are by different artists. I'm wondering why so many people separate by Artist first in their sorting. iTunes sorted my music this way and now it is a mess. If I want to play just one album I have to either create a playlist for it or search under multiple artist folders to piece the album files together. I'm afraid my music collection is a big mess now :(

  16. Re:itunes does it for me on Organizing MP3s and Other File Collections? · · Score: 1

I thought I'd give iTunes a try at organizing my mp3s. It turned out to be a huge mistake. A good portion of my albums have content from various artists. Therefore, iTunes split all my album folders into multiple artist folders. Maybe this would be OK if I used iTunes to play music, but unfortunately it works like crap on my computer because it is so slow and takes up so much desktop space. So when I drag my music folder into Winamp (which I love), the files are not quite organized correctly. In addition, those files that did not have an ID3 tag but had the long filenames are now clipped so that I lost the complete names of the songs. All in all it is a big mess.

"I just can't wait for the day when all employees have a tracking system attached to them at all times and are reprimanded if they spend too much time going to the bathroom or chatting to a coworker."

I know this is an extreme hypothetical, but I can't help but wonder why people insist that companies are so controlling that they would resort to these measures. If such abuses would occur they are likely to be short lived because any smart, successful company would know that the workers are their best asset and would know that micromanagement and unreasonable surveillance is not the way to get the most productivity out of the workers.

Companies don't become large and successful without some common sense and that common sense says that giving an employee some freedom and responsibility is a better way to ensure high productivity than oppressive controls and monitoring.

Therefore, the software would have to adapt to 4 distinct behaviors. One as a male talking to the same sex, one to the opposite sex, one as female to same, and one as female to opposite. This gets complicated fast.

I love WinAmp(currently 5.x), and it is much easier to use than iTunes because it isn't as bloated. iTunes is slow to scroll, slow to add songs, slow to move around the screen. Now I know this is because my computer is slightly behind the times, but I have no performance issues with Winamp.

Also, I know this is from the fact that I have used Winamp for so long, but I love the keyboard shortcuts. They seem more intuitive to me. z,x,c,v,b, for back, play, pause, stop, forward respectively(look at the orientation and compare it to the base skin. The buttons align the same way). The numpad also works well, but I have a laptop so that isn't an option. q will automatically queue the highlighted song. The jump menu "j" is the best feature. You can type any part of the song to search for it then play it immediately, enqueue it, and ajust the queue list. This is the best way to arrange requests during parties. I know iTunes has the search right there on the main screen but again because of performance issues it is just_too_slow. There are also a lot of cool features of winamp that may come in handy such as "stop after current file". I don't like the Ctrl+"button" shortcuts for players like iTunes and WMP. One button will work best for me.

The size is also a bonus since I don't want to crowd my desktop with a media player, I want it to run in the background. If I want to change songs I just hit Alt + Tab then "b" until I shuffle to an acceptable song then back to my work. Simple, quick, painless.

(Also, my music WAS organized until I forgot to turn iTunes auto-organize off)

"Black Holes are extrapolations of existing theories"

The key word here is extrapolation. I'm not saying black holes are impossible, I just hesitate to consider them as a final explanation of observed phenomenon. Extrapolations after all are simply guesses based on trends that are observable. Consider an exponential curve. If data is recorded far down the axis, the results would look like a straigh line. If this was extrapolated, there would be error when calculating near zero. Black holes represent phenomenon that approach zero. However, we cannot directly measure what happens at this point therefore we extrapolate observed data to "guess" what may happen and this leads to some results that are difficult to accept based on common sense physicality. The equations of relativity that are often used are not necessarily wrong, I propose that they are simply incomplete.
