  1. Where is Vicki? on Automata On The March · · Score: 1

I wonder if they have all those wind-up and battery powered toys that were popular in the 50's and 60's. Go Robbie!

  3. figures don't lie, but liars figure on Berkeley Researchers Analyze Florida Voting Patterns · · Score: 1

In a normal election, the historic statistic is that roughly 2 percent of the votes are lost or miscounted no matter what the system. Thus, in an election where there are 60 million votes cast 1.2 million votes are effected. These votes could have gone either way and this degree of error is accepted by both sides. It is only in a close race that a recount is necessary. There was a study on this, that I am trying to find, that shows that overwhelmingly recounts do not change the result of the election.

  8. This is an execise in futility on The Music Man · · Score: 1

There is no way he can collect every song ever recorded, since at least 50% of recorded music has been lost. Recording companies routinely destroy masters and any copies left of albums that don't sell. Disc jockeys throw out hundreds of cd's and lp's each month. None of this is ever captured so this fellow will never get them. He won't even know they existed.

  9. Re:WHAAAAAA! on EA Games: The Human Story · · Score: 1

We work in an educated country and salary slavery is just as wrong as outright slavery. Not as far as the american public is concerned. Look at the recent election which gives a mandate to the people who promote wage slavery.

  11. Re:What is the Speed of Sound? on NASA to Attempt Mach 10 Flight Next Week · · Score: 1

The speed of sound is used since it was once considered a "barrier" to air speed. When you reach that velocity you have significant resistance and create a "sonic boom". It is a traditional measure like hogsheads and furlongs.

  12. Help It's a hydrogen bomb! on Combined Gasoline/Hydrogen Fuel Station Opens · · Score: 1

The same ignorant folks who still believe Sadaam ordered the 9/11 attacks probably will confuse hydrogen fuel with a fusion bomb.

Until the common Linux flavors have better support for USB and Firewire devices, people will keep getting frustrated with these implementations. Trying to fit in to the wintel box way of doing things is a slow process. It's been evolving for over 20 years. Now if Intel started to actively support Linux.......
