I agree with you to a point. I have most of my data mirrored on two computers. If one fails or gets hacked, I can just use the other machine. I do this because my data is not all that important. Life will not stop and a company will not fail if I lose a few days of even weeks of data.
Of course if the one machine get's hacked... The other one is pretty much toast if it's a mirror... It'll have the same hole that let them into the first one...
For example the Honda S2000 has *amazing* digital gauges, visible in bright direct daylight, or pitch dark. The spedo is digital, and the tach is a bar graph.
but I'm off to bludgeon my parents for not getting me this game. I'll let you know how it goes.
Whew... at least the anonymous coward guy will finally shut up.
Of course you need to use there batteries!

Did anyone else have visions of Gillete speaking up as well? If you don't use our replacement heads for the razors, you run the risk of your face catching fire!!!:)
To be slightly fair to Nokia, I understand they can/will only ceritfy with some brands of batteries..
Hmm, I don't completely buy that... It's like talking about distance and speed... If we know I went 1000km in 10 hours, that dosen't mean I've been going 100km/h the whole time... That's the avg, but maybe I waited until the 9th hour to start, etc...
One quick point... In any big-ish city in Japan, you'll probably find a Pachinko parlor every few blocks... Heck even the smaller towns have one or two parlors...
That mentality is the number one thing that gets people killed in knife fights here... What exactly are you going to block that knife with?
Defence seems to boil down to the same ideas as a gun fight. a) Don't get into it. b) if you do, make sure you have a knife with you, the one with out the knife is the one that ends up bleeding to death. c) if you both have knives/guns, and refuse to stop the fight, at least one will probably end up with serious injuries.
The local law enforcement here it taught to keep at least 10m from the guy with the knife, unless they've already shot him. Inside of that, and you don't have many choices if he rushes you. Of course our city cops are amazingly bad shots as well.;)
Nope, that's failure to fulfil your end of and agreement, fraud. For example dine and dash is a form of fraud.
Like I said, whatever tags you put on it, what's the ultimate difference that makes one justifiable? Are you arguing that copyright infringement should be legal? Unpunished? Where are you going with this?
No, but without being able to state clearly the subject of what we're talking about, resolution of the problem is impossible. A standard punishment for theft would be to give back what was stolen (impossible, as nothing was stolen), and pay a fine somewhat tied to the price of the stolen item. If we are talking about copyright infringment, the "standard" punishment so far has been to sue the accused for the revenue lost to the company, plus a fine many thousands of times larger then the price of the copied software. Basically I'm saying the current laws are assine, and that is part of whats driving the "civil disobedience"-like behaviour. If you don't agree with the law, you break it, then scream loudly about how wrong it is... When they get to the point of arresting a large enough percentage of the population, the "bad" law will be overturned.
Theft would be somebody physically taking a CD from a store, most people agree this isn't a good thing
The RIAA is going after people for copyright infringement. There are a lot of people that do not agree with copyright infringement rules the way that they are (Fair Use looks like it's been taken away, people are being pressured not to build devices that remove commercials, etc).
Remember, theft involves physical property, copyright infringement is duplicating something that someone else built. And piracy is a guy with a parrot on his shoulder going "Arrrrrrr Matey, how bout that rhum."
Most bugs are found by using the software rather than by reading its code.
Which is one of the reasons most code is crap. How many other engineering fields put things out there and don't think about problems until after it's borken. Hey jed, I think the bridge fell over again, let's try heavier bolts
See the OpenBSD project for an attempt to do this the other way around (i.e. audit the code BEFORE you know it's broke.)

and translates it into energy lost in pumping the gas (natural gas? hydrogen gas? white gas?) to the home...
Yeah, but switching to a VT and typing "killall XFree86" (or "/etc/init.d/xdm restart") is a whole lot easier then rebooting...
"how much larger than 10^10^10^10 can infinity be?"
10^10^10^10 + 1?
Yeah... Like new Coke!

IBM never recovered from the Junior.
Wow... I wish I could NOT recover like IBM has! :)
Uh, do the stores kick you out if you keep buying the product with the least margin?
So much for using these in Canada for 8 months out of the year
buy a Sharp Zaurus
Yep, I can see a rock being used as a weapon too... We better not let any of those into space either!!!
You mean other then unlawful use of someone elses computer, and causing damage of course right?
Err, except that AIX has been running on PowerPC for about 7 years...
WebExplorer was already being used by IBM in OS/2. :)

Sure enough, the number one weapon used to kill fellow human beings in the city in Canada where I live is..... A knife.
I'm waiting for the day where I have to carry registration to cut my steak... I'll feel so much safer <sarcasam>
I've still stolen from the barber.

No, none of this is about theft.

Well... it's not like it would take much :)
Yes, I'd like one Sagan of IP's please!
