I've always wondered...when a site is slashdotted, it implies that the site has been hit by high referrals from slashdot, causing it to become slow or go down totally.
But how does slashdot itself cope with the high traffic?
As an American I've been wondering for a while why your government pretty much does whatever we tell them to do, without any sort of problems with resentment, national pride, or even seemingly rational thought.
Because if they didn't, Australia will probably be labelled as an "Axis of Evil", and soon America will start accusing Australians of hiding WMDs in Kangarros. =P
I can never see an American being extridited to Australia for an alleged crime, who has never actually been to Australia.
You guys have the nukes. All the bases are belong to YOU!
What do you really think the Australian government gets for being our lapdog?
I know it is an unpopular view and I will be immediately marked down for saying so, but I believe this is an act of a higher power.
Yeah. Mother Nature.
Punishment for non believers and 9/11 I think?
Please. If you really believe that God's responsible, then you believe in a sick God: He punishes people (including innocent children) via tsunamis just because he doesn't have enough fans? I seriously doubt other Christians would share your view.
There are licensing issues when you use a cross-platform toolkit like Qt. Qt isn't free for Windows. There's also the issue of flexibility when you use a packaged API. Google could have started out just licensing Yahoo!'s existing search technology at the time. It would have saved developmental costs, but would it have made them as successful as they are today?
Well obviously they have been working hard, since their brain cells have been overworked, causing them to produce Zen sentences like this.
I'm not making these, oddly enough, to be giant, successful blockbusters.
No way, dude!. I couldn't tell that from the previous 2 movies!!
Perhaps the lack of computer effects was the reason why the original 3 movies were so successful.

Trust John Dvorak.
- Random Slashdot GuyMicrosoft could end up buying Adobe in the end if this merger doesn't work out as intended and profits/revenue fall because of management problems.
For those of you who can't decide whether Yahoo! or Google is better...
YaGooHooGle!Don't smoke dope and post at /. at the same time.
I was downloading a bunch of files off OCRemix, when suddenly all my downloads became very slow for no reason.
Then I saw the front page of Slashdot...

No.
The improved version is new. 1.0 is an improved version of 0.9. 1.0 is new.
I don't know...the worm looks more scared than the horned one.
Well since the people at Google have chosen to write platform-specific code, they must be clueless twits too. =)
