Yeah, at a LAN party I was playing the latest flight simulator in NYC and I crashed into the twin towers... then they said I wasn't allowed to play anymore.
The key word in the article is "Under the Influence," because they were drunk. And that is the only time you would be dumb enough to perform such behavior.
Don't complain when someone pirates an obsolete game just because its hard to find in some areas. Going to EB Games and other related stores and going into their "Classic Games Bin" is useless because half of the games are beaten half to death and the decent ones are taken by those 27 year olds who look forward to their weekly D&D parties with their friends.
If it were gamecube, I'd understand, but it isn't. EVEN IF IT WERE N64 I WOULD UNDERSTAND. But, no. Not SNES and NES. Those are hard to come by when you dont buy stuff off the internet all the time.
I'm copy and pasting that article and sending it to a few people I know (My dad who has a Ph.D, a few professors I know, and a few of my dad's co-workers), I'm sure they'll get a kick out of trying to pronounce that.
bad parenting is the number one factor in a persons tendancy to become violent / anti-social / exhibit criminal behavior
It can also be genetic. I wouldn't directly blame it on parents. I have friends who's parents have tried really hard to keep them in line but they have still had diseplinary (sp?) problems.
Blaming it directly on the parents is just unfair. I am sure there are cases where the child is abused and then lashes out at society and just happens to have a copy of GTA:VC in his PS2 at home.
This also brings me to a Law & Order episode I saw a while back. It was about a kid who murdered a student in his school for being "different," with a weapon that his father had bought him. Now that would be an example of bad parenting. But as for other situations where the parents work too much to be involved, they can't be directly blamed.
That's weird. I live right down 202 from there and I didn't even hear about this on the news (I rarely watch it though). The whole hype with using videogames as scapegoats to get away with murder is stupid. You should be shot for just doing that in the first place.
Well, in my Cisco class, we get C-TECH certified (im about to take the final for it) and we did the entire LAN in our technical school -- all the work. All the students chipped in and did it. It was a big project, done before I got in the school, but we still do cabling and 110 Block punchdowns, etc. It is much more efficient because you can put the jacks where you want, you learn while you do it, and you can do it on your own time. Students have set up LANs in their own houses, I just ran a few lines through my fathers house and set up some jacks, but I've never heard of anybody being fined in the US for doing it on their own.
Well, I would suggest blocking KaZaA and other illegal applications, but programs like Bittorrent can be used to transfer legal programs. I know I got my new Gentoo ISO through it to help save bandwidth due to the size of the CD. Napster has gone legal, too, so that is another thing to take into effect. Same with iTunes. Those should be allowed, but programs like Bearshare, KaZaA, and Morpheus, in my personal opinion, should be blocked.
I admit, I used to do a large amount of illegal downloading, but I've been clean of downloading music and movies for atleast a month. I have pretty much completed my music collection and I have just about every album of the artists that I am interested in. The main thing that compelled me to do it was the fact that I was bored (But my new World of Warcraft addiction has solved that boredome problem) and I had nothing to do.
I know, some people don't have the money to afford to go to movies every weekend and rent them (especially college students), but there are alternatives to downloading illegally. I do not agree with the RIAA and companies alike taking such strong attacks towards people. (Especially 13 year olds who were downloading TV themes -- for those who remember that fiasco).
My final word is, if you're going to do it, prepare to accept the consequences. Ive strayed away from bittorrent for even legal causes due to this entire problem. But just be prepared for anything if your going to download illegally. You never know what kind of bill will be proposed tomorrow against piracy.
I have a 10GB partition saved for archiving all my data, between AOL Instant Message conversations (courtesy of DeadAIM -- JDennis.net), and I also log what webpages I go on because i tend to forget easily.
As for e-mail, I keep all of it. I have over 10,000 e-mail messages in my archived folders (encrypted of course). I just need to figure out how to back it up and burn it to a CD using Mozilla Thunderbird.
I just got WoW the other day and this is truly a great improvement for MMORPGs. I admit, I did buy gil on FFXI, but that was because the game was unbalanced and you get cheated out of money.
As for gold in WoW, it is much easier to get and if you're too lazy to earn it on your own (questing), then you shouldn't be playing. Infact you should be playing no games. Ive gotten to level 14 in one weekend, and it was no trouble at all.
I know that I have saved a great deal of money as a student by doing projects at home with open source programs. Right now I am working on a scrap book for my health class and it is being done in Open Office 2.0 Beta.
I am currently in a Cisco Networking Academy program for highschool students, and from what I know, there has only been two girls in the class, the rest have dropped out in the first week of school because the majority of the class is guys.
I personally think it is important to have women in the workplace and in schools -- especially in school -- because you watch your manners and what you will need for future employment oppurtunities.
Theres a major flaw in the radio system. Whenever they play a string of songs in a certain order for that day, if their ratings go up just a little bit, they will play the same exact songs in that order the next day. This is how they attempt to get higher ratings, while also failing to introduce newer bands.
I've been remenicing (sp?) with Half Life 2 and going through the lower-class neighborhoods in my area. And I've also wished I had a gravity gun to grab that soda I left on the counter when I sat down to watch some TV.
Ok, a friend of mine uses this thing for his and it is incredible. I love it, every hosting company I have ever been with has used it (I've been with a good 5 hosting companies in the past 3 years) and ive always enjoyed cpanel.

being a 46 rogue in WoW, I love the honor system. 'Ganking' is easy as 1-2-flee.
Unfortionately people are too ignorant to know that they're more interested in the upstream of your network than the downstream
and this info has been around for quite a while
THEN BEGIN PRODUCTION OF THE OLD GAMES AGAIN.

Addresses, phone numbers, and some neglectful people have sent their CC# through it.

No, you can't IM somebody when they're offline. That would be a red flag right there for this article.
This just in: "AOL instates their own patriot act!"

Good find man. I had an idea like this a while back.
