  1. Re:Does anyone think these articles are nuts? on Intel Macs May Boot Windows XP After All · · Score: 1

"Other than that, what is the point of running XP on a Mac/Intel box? To be cool"

Ah, you obviously don't understand the rules of cool. Any coolness in running a Mac would be eliminated by running XP on it. It's like buying a Ferrari and then putting terry-towelling seat covers in it. Not cool.

  2. Re:Mac resistance to malware on Mac users 'too smug' Over Security? · · Score: 1

"The guy is right, and security by obscurity doesn't really work for long"

Firstly there must be more to this than just obscurity. 4-5% Market share and 0% viruses. Apple are pumping out over a million machines a quarter, still no viruses? This stuff about the mac only being secure because no one uses a Mac is just untrue. There should be SOME viruses, at least 1!

Secondly, let's pretend for a minute though, that it is true. Well, let's talk about the issue again when the Mac is in danger of grabbing 50% of the market, in fact let's make it 20%. In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy the 0% market share the Mac has in the Virus market.

Wouldn't the Video iPod + a roll of masking tape give the same effect?

Admittedly you might want to poke a hole in the tape over the other eye.

It's funny you should say that. I've read this opinion a few times on slashdot of late. Yet here I am with my 17" Powerbook and the brightness setting is just over halfway. This means the 'book has almost twice the brightness I need. If other brand notebooks make the PB look dim I guess I'd have to wear sunglasses to use those!

Yes true. I find it interesting though, that Microsoft IS an established player now #2 in a market is pretty good isn't it? Yet the XBOX division is still making a loss overall. I know they have a strategy to recoup this investment one day but if you aren't even doing it as the number 2 player, it makes you wonder...

    Yes Emusic is excellent.

I first joined nearly a year ago as a "vote" for non-DRMed music but now I find I am almost exclusively sourcing music from there. They have a huge range of artists and some good editorial content and recommendations. All DRM free. I was amazed how many of the high ranking albums on metacritic.com can be found on emusic.

No you won't get britney, madonna or robbie williams, but that's not a bad thing!
