It did not, but the number of invisible "rays" that hit you would be smaller the farther you are. Also, they only spread roughly in direction where firing player was heading at the time of initial trigger pull. http://www.gamers.org/pub/archives/doom/periodic/bfg_faq for a detailed explanation of how does the original BFG9000 work.
Assuming that you have to rewrite his software, make it all web based (even if it runs off of one machine as a server without the Internet) and forgetaboutit. Keep it as basic and generic as possible and then the hardware will never matter....and then pick a host or service that will be around in a decade or two.
...and then read GP post again, more carefully, to find out why that is not necessary
Errors in memtest86 are a 100% indication that your memory is not working properly in your system.
Whether this is caused by bad ram or an incompatible motherboard+ram combination remains to be seen though.
Or by a faulty mainboard, just like mine, which caused every memory module to malfunction once it got warm. No errors on memtest86 for first one or two hours (2-3 complete passes), many errors on first pass after the system has been running for some time.
Of course, random BSODs and hard freezes in Windows XP, mostly in games. Vista couldn't even complete installation without freezing.
Funnily enough, only symptoms in Linux were occassional gcc segfaults during large, memory-intensive compilations (OO.org, KDE).
The mainboard is now replaced, and the new unit works flawlessly. Yay.
Maybe because moderating is about promoting good or bad posts, not good or bad posters. That post _was_ funny, so I don't see why shouldn't it be modded accordingly.
AvP? What AvP? There was no AvP movie! There wasn't! I can't hear you, nanananananaNANANANA!
...recurring project being "get drunk". :)
Wow. The world's privacy is saved. Now on to create a "Cancer has a 100% success cure" group.
Not to worry, the Earth should have enough verdani (and somewhat polluted wentals) on board, plus we can always call faeros from the Sun, if needed. :)

There is no such moderation choice as "I Agree" anyway. Grow up.
But don't stop sharing your C:
What we need is Botman -- in public life, a wealthy young man, in private life, a vigilante in black cape, who hijacks botnets and brings them down.
Huh? People have been writing exploits for Linux for years.
Or have I just been whooshed?
Why not generate short, easy URLs right away and get rid of the long ones completely?

How exactly does one brew a bear? I would think animal rights activists would notice.
