Processing power and graphics sell consoles though:^)
The gamecube had more power and better graphics than the PS2, and that didn't seem to make a difference.
I wouldn't doubt it if the story of the dad and his daughter is fraudulent. Often, tabloids invent stories to bring attention to a real occurence.
Maybe some Sun staffer bought a copy of the pirated game, and decided to make up a compelling story to go along with it. Because if you look at the picture, it looks like a real copy of Monster's, Inc.
Its a stretch to say the Xbox is reaching the masses. Halo is reaching the masses. If it weren't for that single series, MS would be ditching the Xbox like webTV.
is a real issue for me. It's nerdy enough to run around in an RPG in the role of your avatar, but having to do so with real voice chat is a bit uncomfortable for me.
I don't understand the whole issue. I don't get into heated arguements with my brother because he drives a Nissan and I drive a Honda. But it's always been this way with video games. People swear alegiance to their company of choice. My first encounter with this issue was when I was in second grade. I was thinking of buying a Sega Master System, and my neighbor almost disowned me because he had an NES. I guess some things never change.
Here here! Nintendo is the king of innovation. Power Pad, Power Glove, Rumble Pak, 4-Player Ports, Handheld Gaming, Wireless Controls... It goes on and on.
Whine about the resaons why Nintendo isn't the dominant player in the industry gets old. Listen, just because the big N isn't number one in console sales, doesn't mean that they are not a successful company, or that they are on the brink of failure. BMW isn't the number one auto company, but hey seem to be doing all right. Apple might not even hold a candle to the other PC manufacturers, but they service a niche. I love Nintendo, and it doesn't matter if they dominate the market. They meet a particular market need, and they get by just fine. They will proabably never again rule the console roost, but they will continue to be a profitable, successful game company.
Dreamcast only 1 good game? Sorry my friend but the DC had the highest percentage of AA and AAA games out of any system in history. (including current generation)
I beg to differ. I don't want another device I have to remeber to charge every night if I want to use it the next day. My cell phone, palm, and laptop are enough.
It cannot be denied that Sony is the behemoth of the gaming world, but why is it ignored that Sony hardware is plagued with bugs. Defective drives, compatibility issues, less than rugged design. These are issues that were common to the PS2 and will probably be multiplied on the PSP.
The thing looks too delicate, and I agree that screen is beggin' for a scratch. Also, if that thing get dropped, look out screen and disc drive. While sony does lead the industry in anti-skip technology, we all know that it eventually wears out. I bought my game boy in 1989, it still works. I seriously doubt the same will hold true for a PSP in 2019.
Look, Nintendo does not have or ever had a monopoly. The GBA was repeatedly challenged, and those challengers failed. Nintendo was able to dominate the market by providing a better product. That's economics 101.
So thats the scam Nintendo's running! Its not about making games, and encouraging fun! Its all about market share...
That Miyamoto and his Mario are bastards...
on releasing the "Technical Gubbins" for the US model? I hope so! That's the mega-ton announcement I've been waiting for!
than Bill Gates at CES.
game gear atari lynx virtual boy neo geo pocket wonderswan N-Gage PSP... (did I say that?)
brother's Game Gear could do that back in the mid 90's. Heck my GBA can do that now!
I think you're right. It's multiplayer, but just locally.
The GBA could do that...

OK, its now turned into a conversation about the effect of US behavior on the world? Give me a break.
/. It's always something wrong with the US. Whether its IP, money or whatever. Somehow the US screwed everything up.
It always has to go there on
There are actually two surgery games in dev for the DS.
If I ever go under the knife, I hope my surgeon has steered clear of Doom.
The last thing I want to hear as I drift into a drug induced slumber is the reving of a chainsaw...
Good point. Not only am I a Nintendo fan, but an Apple user as well, and there are firebreathers in that arena too.
Funny, I was just thinking about this the other day. There was a dance game called DanceArobics. Kind of a forerunner to DDR.

what, now the govt's in the business of fund raising for poor saps?
This is wisdom. The sad hypocritical truth.
that's the sound of the gears and springs in my brain failing...
I beg to differ. I don't want another device I have to remeber to charge every night if I want to use it the next day. My cell phone, palm, and laptop are enough.
