Using a product by Riverbed called a Steelhead. Basically a caching device, the company promised that we would get almost LAN speeds over out WAN.
It's currently on my counter in my office waiting to be boxed up and sent back. In a pure MS environment it probably would have worked great, and delivered the speed increases. We however are running a MS/ Novel environment... with only Netware servers at the remote locations.
Still it's $20 or $30 per license... times thousands of computers.
- at the same time you have to factor in the IS time to uninstall MS Office and install OOo. (not cheap!) Unless they are using Zenworks and have the ability to install or uninstall at the flip of a switch. (any Netware geeks out there?)
They already hijack computers. (it's called spy-ware). And they crash. The only real difference is that the Hijackers in this case are not trying to bring down America, they are trying to make a quick buck or just cause trouble. (that and when a computer crashed it only rarely causes death and mayhem)
Just wait until the "Down with the American Pigs" hijackers get more computer savvy... probably sometime next week.
"When will the quality of music reach tolerable mass?"
- Too true, I really hate it when you actually BUY a new CD and all the songs except the one that you bought the damn thing for are really bad. I still love hanging out in music stores and I'll continue to buy music - lately I have been just buying old stuff to fill in my collection.
Only they will call it Data Protection Manager 2006 and charge $800 (Base XCopy) for it... Plus the $400 Exchange Agent (/EA) and the $400 SQL Agent (/SQLA) and the $400 Multi-Server (/MS)Agent and the $400 Netware Compatibility Agent (/FU) and the $40,000 Linux Compatibility Agent (/HAHA)
We use Erado (www.erado.com) for spam filtering (and content/ virus filtering) We are up to 97% of the messages being blocked. 87% of those messages are to non-existant users (wrongname@domain.com). It's good to see that they are starting to stop these guys, but I'll bet it will only get worse.
SQL on the XBox.. that's pretty funny.
"The database is down, I'll bet that the retards on IS are playing Halo.."
"Hey, put the SQL CD back in you damn geeks."
BTW, Nice browser Asa.

- Did anyone else instantly think of the "Empire" scene in Clerks when you heard that Kevin Smith wrote the review?
who would have thought?
Steve (the Dell Dude) was busted buying weed with his new Dell phone...

Oh, well...
George Bush's list of iPod songs was released... http://www.thenation.com/edcut/index.mhtml?bid=7&p id=2321...
Georgie only has around 200 songs loaded up, I like the list of suggested songs to fill some of the thousands of empty slots.
Bitter? Off Topic?
Sounds like there is a Fox Network blog that you should be writing somewhere.

It's called a software license.
Found this searching for forensics computer software... They have a tent, too. Now that is one way to look cool, your very own tinfoil tent!
