I got one of those FreePCs. It was actually a decent computer for the time. Before a year was up the company went bankrupt or something and they sent information on how to remove the ads. I was a poor student at the time and never could have afforded a computer of that quality at the time.
With a physical newspaper I can pull out the comics section, the sports section, the lifestyle section and give them all to different people while I continue to read the front page at the same time as them. We can rotate sections later but no one has to go without reading at any given time. Do you see why I can't do that with a single e-reader?
Not everyone on Medicaid stays poor for the rest of their lives. Utah in particular has a lot of young married students with young children who qualify for CHIP while in college but later go on to lucrative careers.
Before I read the comments I was guessing reasons to buy now might include things like, "Get 3D now before it's got twice the DRM packed in with it." or 'Ideally you should get a new TV before June because that is when they are releasing the TVs with hidden cameras that send data back to 3rd parties." Instead it sounds like he's simply saying buy 3d now so I get a larger bonus.
I can believe there are sometimes reasons to buy early even if later prices will come down but it doesn't sound like this guy has any legitimate ones.
I actually like a number of little things Bing does that make it useful to me.
For instance, when I search "movies" on both bing and google, I find bing gives me more relevant results on the first page. If I then click the Movies tab at the top it shows info laid out better (IMHO) than if you click on google's "Showtimes for..."
Bing lists movies and their showtimes by theater (with contact info and movie ratings) with a map at the side in a very clean layout.
Google lists by movies instead of theater. It adds a blurb about the movie, lists the director and top cast, and then lists the showtimes at each nearby theater. While it does give more info, I find it more difficult to find what I want. I can get the additional info google lists on bing by clicking on a particular movie. Most times I prefer to see the clean layout with the most important info listed only by theater.
This may just be a personal preference but I find that there are dozens of instances like this where bing happens to match how I'd like it and google may cram a bit more on the page but it's less relevant to me.
The one exception is that I prefer google's news layout over bing's. However, when I'm searching news I tend to go to multiple sites anyway so even though I prefer google's I still use bing's as well.
The locals who are prepared have a roll of dimes to pay the exact fare. The out of towners likely don't have exact change and just pay an extra 10 cents. It's an effective tax against out of towners.
How do you go from a judge ruling that Kaleidescape had made good faith efforts to ensure their products were compliant, and were in fact compliant, to what came out today if money didn't change hands somewhere?
Who needs money when you have incriminating photos?
Looks like bonch needs to be more proactive in protecting his literary work. Overly Critical Guy is making a cheap knock off of his posts and selling it at a discount.
If it's not habitable, it's not a building, per se, ie, it's not "the tallest building in NYC".
Would you prefer "Tallest ongoing erection in NYC?"
That's what she said.
This is the UK. You better find a way to disable all the cameras before even considering stealing them.
Like there's any chance of him getting the nomination at this point. Maybe it's time to pack up and return to his day job.

Well, to be fair, for his gmail password he had to add a 1 at the end for them to accept it. I guess that's why his gmail account was never hacked.

I guess I'm stealing road access when I drive down the highway without looking at the billboards?

Tablets are okay for teens but my younger children prefer chewables.

...and never set foot in an airport... oh wait.

Wasn't this an April Fools prank of theirs a while back?
The creator of /. has been slashdotted? Oh the Irony.
Only in Soviet Russia.
Tonight on Mythbusters... Can you survive while swimming with a shark in a fridge full of water, during a nuclear blast?
Depends...does the shark have laser beams attached to its head?

It wouldn't surprise me if another anonymous hacker beat them to it and changed their addresses to 12345 for the lulz.
Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster and his noodly appendages, I live in Canada.
Hopefully the researchers in the evil ignorant US will share what they've learned with the enlightened Canadians.

And a handicapped parking space!
"One of those idiots" probably isn't applicable to most of the /. populace...
You must be new here.

Either way, though, I'm not buying.
That's interesting. How old are the kids? I'm guessing that most kids just live with the headphone jack problems rather than report it.
Also, if they know the break was their fault they may just get their parents to buy them a new one.
Do they have to return the ipads at the end of the year? It'll be interesting if the ratio of broken/lost devices continues at the end of the year.
In other news, hackers have discovered that the game, Angry Birds, mysteriously turns on a setting called "DiagnosticsAllowed".
Perhaps the /. "editors" could help fight this common misunderstanding by dropping the superfluous quotes.
Fixed that for you.
