No matter how well-run the Indian call center may be, they can't give good customer service if the customer in U.S. can't understand what the rep is saying due to his accent.

Last week I called 1and1 internet tech support on a simple request (import a MySQL dump into a database). Now I have no idea if 1and1 outsources to India - maybe she was just chewing tobacco while talking or something - but I couldn't understand what the fuck she was saying more than half the time. It took 30 minutes just to convince her to let me talk to Tier 2 tech support. After which my request was fulfilled swiftly.

Here's a tip: if you can't understand what your Indian tech support person is saying, just ask for Tier 2. More likely than not, tier 2 will be an American.

Right on. I wish I had mod points right now so I can mod parent up.

Google has been extremely frustrating to me, becaused I built a good website with tons of relevant info and high-quality content. It's been around for a quite a while now, 1 1/2 years, so my whining is not because the site is new. I did everything a good webmaster could be expected to do (including pay for my domain for 5 years), yet my site is still around #40 on Google for the particular keyword.

    # 15 through 40 for that keyword are full of COMPLETE SPAM SITES. Not only that, these are 1-page spam sites. My site has dozens of pages carefully crafted pages that took hundreds of hours of work.

I'm sorry, but Google pagerank is complete crap. In my humble opinion.

The kind of sleazy dealings mentioned in TFA come about precisely because organ selling is a black market. So what exactly is the almighty government protecting us from?

I guess you were about to say what was on your mind, but political correctness and liberal virtues so cherished on Slashdot made you refrain.

Well, I'll say it for you. Too many Muslims are freaking savages. Yeah I'm sure there are peaceful and civilized ones out there, but if you look at the ratio of peaceful citizens to raving nuts and compare it to that of Christian nations or Buddhist nations or Shinto nations or whatever, you can't help but come to the conclusion that Muslim, as it exists in the real world today (and not in theory), is a barbaric, violent, repressive religion.
