    Dear Joe,
    I have read your letter and carefully considered your statements.

    First of all, my grandma does not speak English, so no amount of easiness will let her use an English-made PC. As far as other people's grandmas, you can use a Windows PC right out of the box with no problems.

    When it comes to security, the only reason that Apple PC's are not compromised daily is that only 3% of computer users use them. If there was a larger target, believe me, virus makers would attack Apples so fast it wouldn't be funny.

    Now let's take packet A. Do an MD5 sum (or similar) on it. Send it to the end user. Have the end user's browser do a similar check on it and send it to the server. IF the server green flags it, then show the page.

    This shouldn't become a speed problem on broadband machines because it'll only mean 2 or 3 times more packets (but you can always increase packet size).

    Call the new standard something like HTTPS 2.0.

    I went to Latvia in December and many people use pirated software for everything at home. It's basically because they barely make a percentage of our salaries. They only use official versions in workplaces. IT's also because they know (correctly) that there's nobody to come after them.

    Don't take this as flamebait but I have the feeling that nobody's really trying hard enough to protect us. We stand an hour longer in the security line just so that people can bring explosives through in their shoes? Now they make us take our shoes off. What if someone brings explosives through in their pants?

    Same here...they pretend to try to catch terorists when in reality the next power failiure could knock the whole list out.

    How many bugs have been exposed in IE and exploited? (Especially because for IE it's almost a 1:1 ratio)

    it seems as if you are speaking of EXACTLY the same bug I am talking of. And my MBR was fixed after I did a Win98 HD scan. If you are right and the bug was fixed I would REALLY love to install Debian on my PC (maybe it'll be the only Linux to support my wireless card)

    Last time I tried to install any debian I had major problems:

    Debian Woody's graphics drivers didn't work w/ my card

    Debian Sarge screwed up my partitions causing me to lose ALL of my data (from my Windows Partition). I dunno if their partitioning tool has improved, but I don't want to risk it.

    The atomic clock tells us what time it is, so no longer does time dictate what time it is, the atomic clock does. So, of course we never really now what time it really is. Especially because it's all relative to the Earth's orbit around the sun which, for all we know, could be decaying.

    The 360 also will have WiFi out of the box, and I don't have a DS, so I couldn't care less about that. Plus, Everyone's already heard of Live, while this Nintendo feature could be crap for all we know.
