However, Apple's woes of the mid-1990s forced them to drop many of the cool technologies that they were working on, including this component technology.
[insert sarcastic tone]
Sure, but we got other cool technologies, like the Geoport Modem. Man, I miss that thing! What a workhorse.
Have you seen the Supreme Court lately? At least 4 of them would be happy to let Bush cross out the entire 4th Amendment f
That's where you're wrong. Just because a justice is conservative does NOT mean that he thinks a police state is good thing. Rather the opposite. Scalia, who places a great deal of emphasis on the original intent of the Founders, has said that the so called Terry search would probably not have passed muster with the Founders because no one in the 18th century would have thought being patted down "for the safety of the officers" was constitutional.
Further, some of the greatest violations of human rights have occurred in countries run by governments of left-wing ideology, namely communism.
"CERA was acquired by IHS Energy in 2004. . . . Some of the company's largest clients include international energy companies, governments, utilities, and financial institutions."
"IHS is one of the leading global providers of critical technical information, decision-support tools, and related services to customers in the energy, defense, aerospace, construction, electronics, and automotive industries. We have developed a comprehensive collection of technical information that is highly relevant to the industries we serve."
Also apparently the original versions are basically non-anamorphic transfers from the laser discs. So basically, they look terrible.
What's a laser disc?
Just kidding. I couldn't help myself.
Not uninstalling is a huge pet peeve of mine

From the article:
The suite is also criticized for engaging in "deceptive installation" and faulted because some components fail to uninstall.
This is just ridiculous. Why are there so many programs that refuse to uninstall or leave pieces of themselves lying around? How hard can it be for the "uninstall" function to actually work? Worse, do I really need several dialog boxes to get rid of something? I can always install it again. It's not like I'm wiping my hard drive.
These books should be sold with a huge discount because lots of costs have been cut by distributing them online as PDFs. And don't they realize that the very value of a PDF is intrinsically lower than that of a hardbound book? I might as well just buy the real thing and be done with it.
What's the market for D&D books? Is this going to make it grow? If not, then selling the PDFs at a "huge discount" will amount to a huge drop in revenue, and WotC loses money.
The "illegal immigration should be a felony" thing was all about that. The grenade went off in their hands a bit, and now they're back to the gay marriage thing as a fallback position
It's already a felony if you've been convicted of crossing the border before. Also, Operation Streamline II, which is a pilot program between Del Rio and Eagle Pass in Texas, has been EXTREMELY successful in stopping illegal immigration.
You should probably get your facts correct before you spout off.
Seriously, you think the immigration issue has gone away because Bush couldn't get an amnesty bill through for his corporate farming, construction, and banking cronies? How often do we get to thank the House of Representatives for ANYTHING? What I don't realize, with unemployment of urban Black men so astronomically high, is why the Democrats would want to bring in more people to compete for entry level jobs.
It's a pretty strange world where the best friend a young Black man has in this country is a Republican from Oklahoma. It's a pretty sad world where those same young men don't know it because they've grown up listening to people who are "on their side."
I've been waiting for something like this -- something that gets ordinary people to spy on one another. I know people will say this is the border, and the people crossing aren't "us".
I don't see how people breaking the law and violating the sovereignty of the U.S.A. are ordinary people. You obviously haven't lived in Texas or spent any time on the border. Most of the land in Texas (around 98%) is in private hands. In Texas, criminal trespass is illegal. Tex. Pen. Code. Sec. 30.05. Illegal aliens are violating the property rights of private citizens in Texas. End of story.
Honestly, this is the best idea Governor Perry has had in a long time.
soldiers and planes smacking into stuff. I mean, light is rather essential for sight. I could be wrong about this, but I generally get around better--with less running into furniture--when light reaches my eyes.
If I could ride a bicycle or use public transportation, I would consider it, but in Texas, it just ain't possible.
I live in Texas, too, and I frequently dream of riding my bike to work since it's less than 10 miles. However, I can't get to work without getting on a freeway. It is literally impossible to get to my job without having to merge with traffic on a freeway and then cross a major interstate interchange.
I do agree with your post to a certain extent, but the US hasn't entered a hot war with an equivilant (or even close) power for over fifty years (and arguably never)
This is true, but it's arguable that the U.S. hasn't been in a major conflict for that period of time because the U.S. military is so powerful.
The world is not a nice, friendly place. It will NEVER be a nice friendly place. Strength is a deterrent, and that deterrent means my family has a reduced risk of being killed by a foreign soldier.
Don't buy it? Fine. Look at Africa. Lots of countries of comparable strength, most of which are incapable of doing much to threaten to sovereignty of their neighbors, but many of which are more than willing to engage in cross-border skirmishes that kill innocents.
Africa is a taste of the real world where you don't have a big, strong kid on the block who intimidates all the other kids to behave.
Instead of the term "Western RPG" I'd use "traditional PC style RPG". The kind of rpgs you don't play with a joypad and that don't require massive amounts of mouse-clicking. I'm talking Betrayal at Krondor, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Wizardry, Albion, Bard's Tale, the old SSI games, Planescape Torment; those kinds of games.
I think the difference is replayability. Character driven games allow you to keep you character(s)/party and continue playing. Realmz on the Mac used to be a great game. Though not eye-candy on the level of many other games, you could purchase different scenarios and keep playing with your same character. LOTS of old, early RPGs (for instance the Wizardry or Bard's Tale games on the Apple II) allowed you to keep playing without starting from scratch. Not that there will be a Fable II on the Xbox, but I don't see any console games letting you use a powerful character you've spent a lot of time developing on a new game.
Some of the mice hung themselves, while some others shot themselves; the scientists still haven't figured out where they got the ropes and guns, which only underlines how painful the treatment is.
I hope that my wife doesn't see this!!!

You're assuming the Earth will be around in 100 years.
I think it's more likely that they would set up a restaurant that serves Swedish meatballs. Everyone has a version of Swedish meatballs.

Stoning the infidels would be more fun on the Wii.

Shouldn't that be $2,000,000? I'm no "math guy," but this is pretty inaccurate even by Slashdot standards.
