Cancel cable service, go digital with SatTv and use DSL (more reliable and steady speeds).

I felt the same way as you do. That's why I cancelled my "digital" cable and "high speed" internet connection with Adelphia cable ($100/month, always down, first 70 channels not digital).

I also cancelled my regular long distance and local phone plan (saved $50-90 a month).

I now use DirecTV with Tivo ($45 2 rooms) and DSL from Verizon ($35, 1.4 Mbs speed). Coupled with Vonage ($25), I finally feel like the money I am paying every month (and its cheaper!) is not being wasted.

Stop paying cable companies. Go digital (they are NOT digital on the first 70 channels!!), get Sat TV. Verizon's DSL service has not gone down at all since I've had it for 10 months. I have had to recycle my $40 b wireless router 5-6 times tho.

Look up at night, actually early in the morning currently. See that red disk? We call it MARS. Its a planet. NASA landed 2 (yes 2 at the same time) rovers on it one year ago, and they are still functioning. Now turn your telescope to a shiny bright planet we call Saturn. Yes, we have a probe around ones of its moons. The UK has a probe landing on that moon in a few days. We drove it there for them.

Iraq would look like a playground. The US would level it and make it the 52nd state (behind Canada).

Reading that article, I find it interesting to see how most Indian's (any many american's who bash college) feel non-CS courses are not important.

Then, when you work with them for awhile, you see how they can efficiently perform a simple task with your guidance on everything but syntax. However, when you give them free rights to "get it down without bothering me" they have a tough time. Even after 6 + monthes on the job (believe me, I've been doing this (training Indians and other new hires) for 7 years). Non-CS courses (sociology, history, "any"-ology) teach you that there is much much more to any task/job that learning how to write a for loop. Actually, coding is about 4% of any job, or should be.

Make sure your programmers not only can write the language you need, but also aren't social retards.

Also make sure they can figure out how to pick up a phone and call someone to follow up on outstanding tasks, instead of sitting at their desk playing solitaire (i.e. get people who can think for themselves about "whats coming next").

Why is it that NASA is held to such a double standard ?
