It's often even more scarily subtle than that. You think it's a coincendence that you see (or don't even realize that you see) the newest Longaberger baskets on the table on the set of Friends? Or that you see the Dell logo on the back of the monitor on the counter on the ER set? Or that some washed out star is on Larry King "mentioning" how good they feel because of the latest and greatest offering from Pfizer?
If you're watching TV, you're watching advertising.
So... I know these guys. They bought some new kitchen cabinets. They didn't like the finish on the cabinets so they sanded them down and put new veneer on them.
Does it tag.wav files? If so, and the program says they're infringing files, which leads someone to delete them, Windows might not be too happy about that...
...I use Mozilla almost exclusively, only loading MSIE (in a maximally-locked-down configuration) perhaps once a month for sites that absolutely will not work (even with the user agent switcher add-on) in Moz/FF. And both the spies that Giant caught had latched on to MSIE....
Makes you wonder why those sites "absolutely will not work" without MSIE... hmmm...
...modern game requires a large number of artists, writers, and designers (and comparatively few programmers)...
Which may also be the problem with so damn many of the same games coming out time after time after time, with no real new gameplay. Fluff over substance would seem to be the norm when it comes to modern games... perhaps you've just hit on the reason why.
Another reason to avoid the P2P clients for getting music and videos. Get legal and stay out of trouble by avoiding the P2P clients.
Sorry, but that's just plain bullshit. Now that they're aware that they can add spyware to their DRM'd files, there will be spyware in just about ALL DRM'd files, legal and not-so-legal. The comapnies will use it the same way they use spyware now - as an "added feature to their product". And guess what - now that it's in a DRM'd file, you can go to jail for removing spyware under the DMCA. This could be a fucking nightmare.
u are, of course, correct - but only for now. Once ads become super-invasive to the point where a normal person cannot walk outside without hearing and seeing them...
You mean like billboards clutter the highways and city buildings, bell-ringers, and those fuckers wearing the "Honk if you..." sandwichboard signs?
Name them.
...I think they are lucky to not have been visited by some real "sophisticated hackers"...
With the attention they've paid to the security they've done up until now, how would anyone know if they haven't?
interoperability (n)
The ability of software and hardware on multiple machines from
multiple vendors to communicate.
Wasn't it Bill gates who was recently harping about how 'Linux makes interoperability harder'?
Yes, yes it was.

I swear the first 3 times I read that line I read it as nude beach.
Now we'll need a free registration to read other people's junk on about.com. :o/
Microsoft invented something, didn't they?
...Internet Security is the biggest piece of shit excuse for security software EVAR....
Once upon a time it was good. Of course, at that time, it was known as Atguard.
So... I know these guys. They bought some new kitchen cabinets. They didn't like the finish on the cabinets so they sanded them down and put new veneer on them.
Now they're being sued by the cabinet-makers?
wtf?
But on MSN's search, you can buy & sell circumspect elephantitis on ebay!
...some places in the third World, it might be difficult to dance to. This because the Kerosene record player is not a very efficient Device...
How is this Apple's fault, when the OS has natively supported two button mice for the better part of a decade?
Replace "Apple" with "Microsoft" and "mouse" with firewall" and ask that question again...
How are wide open ports Microsoft's fault when Microsoft Windows has natively supported using a firewall for the better part of a decade?
...probably Nick McGrath ;o)

Not a bad value for those of us who do low-intensity work like back-end web development and don't have huge libraries of MP3s.
...or the need for network connectivity :o/
And... as I tell my colleagues when they have Window's problems: hey, you have a Ph.D. in computers, you fix it.

not for long...
...but the point is Office just can't handle anything that wasn't originally created by MS.
So, is that because of incompetence, or by design?
hmm...
