... I have to use Windows XP because of my job. I'd love to go *nix, but out business plan (being a MS software developer) wouldn't exactly fly. So I HAVE to use it (violen playing here). The ONLY good thing about Longhorn I've seen so far was the Monad shell (tested it out a little last year when the beta was first released). I also have to use Visual Studio. These two things are the only programs that MS seems to do right (ok, I don't really think that, but I figured I should put SOME anti-MS stuff in here, it *is /. after all). Why... why MS, why!?!? Is it impossible to FIX the software (begin wise-a$$ jokes here).

I really have got to say, I love my iPod Shuffle. Although I played with the idea of selling it on eBay for a quick buck, the $10 was worth it to me to have something this chic. I never expected it that small or light, and it's so simple. I never looked at the screen of my iTunes, and in my car I put it on shuffle and never manually change the song. It works well for me but what's amazing is how popular the thing has been. Just like their big brothers they are getting scooped up left and right. You have to admire a company that can take a 4 year old player, put it in a nice case and have it back ordered for 4 weeks. Now if they would just release a product to compete with Microsoft's Media Center.

ok, don't get me wrong. I love the look of the iPod Shuffle and I'm hitting the "refresh" button on the apple store until I can order one, but I do see a problem and I hope Apple has thought of this too... the iPod shuffle comes with a lanyard you can hang around your neck. Seems appropraite and I bet in 2 months everybody is wearing one of these... but the lanyard hooks to the cap that is meant to be removed. In a year, how likely is it that your ipod shuffle will just fall out of that cap after it's been pulled on and off so much!? Sure, the headphones will most likely be on, but this just seems like a really bad idea and I hope they addressed it...

totally different markets. The Mini Mac doesn't have anything you can upgrade... the video card is weak (for what little gaming there IS on a mac). Plus, this is a MAC, not a PC, so I don't know why you even think there will be any competition between the two... two totally different markets. But I do like it.. because it will get some PC people to convert.

  19. why blast EA?... go after then NFL.. on EA Obtains Exclusive NFL Licensing Rights · · Score: 5, Insightful

you know.. so far there are about 30 (level 1+) comments and I don't see anyone bad mouthing the NFL for this. I can't say I blame EA for going after this agreement. It's in their best interest and will give them a huge edge come next season. Who wants to play an NFL football game where you can't be Michael Vick and the rest of the Atlanta Falcons (or whoever). But what about the NFL for even LETTING this agreement happen?! If you are going to blast EA for going after a monopoly why not blast the NFL for supporting it?! I'd think it would be in their best interest to let more companies get licenses. How many people out there own both NFL 2k5 and Madden 2005?! I know my friend does... I know many people who did. So the NFL got double license fees from one customer. That's GOOD for the NFL. Also, what about all those people who are anti-Madden, either out of principle (for EA's employer practices) or because they just don't like the gameplay as much as NFL 2k5 (or others) like myself. I own 2k5 because I don't like Madden.. the graphics aren't as good, the gameplay is weak. If this deal had been in place last year the NFL wouldn't have gotten ANY of my money, whereas this year they got some from me purchasing NFL 2k5. This just seems like a bad choice for the NFL. It's a shame too because I get some serious football feaver in Aug and Sept and now next year I'll be back playing my old 2k5. Next year the NFL won't be getting any of my money from licensing deals.

I hope others will follow suit and make major changes to games that are just total crap out of the box. this shouldn't come as a surprise really.. MS has done this for years with the XBOX... it's a good business move though since all the money is made off the games anyway, so pushing the console out, at even a loss, will get people to buy the real money makers.. the games.

What Sony really needs to do is make sure that there are a large number of QUALITY launch titles... sure, sell the PSP at a loss but you'll make it up VERY fast if each person also buys 2-3 games with the system. However, there have already been rumors that there aren't enough launch games. If this is true it will be in Sony's best interest to delay the launch... they might piss off some people but absense makes the heart grow fonder.
