It would be awesome if we could play Mario Kart online
you might be in luck. Nintendo has said that they plan to make some of their old titles online (citing Mario Party as an example). Beyond that, hopefully the GC emulator will trick LAN-enabled games into running online (thinking it's running on a LAN), so that would cover Double Dash(!!) as well as Kirby Air Ride. Plus I guess Phantasy Star Online will run online on the Wii.
But what I really want online is Super Mario All Stars --> Super Mario Bros 3 --> Battle Game, with at least the option to turn off coins. (This Battle Game is my favourite version of Classic Mario Bros, you might know it better from the Mario GBA games, but I don't like that version quite as much).
They prevent you from being overwhelmed with options right away
They can surprise you (a good game gives you enough up-front to not suspect or need unlocks)
They put a purpose on playing well (this point is the center of the debate however)
But I think it's good to have a code that allows players to cut the bullshit in case they don't appreciate unlockables or lost the data in their memory card.
Pretty unlikely since it just came out 4 or 5 months from now.
But seriously, I'm far from the first person to say this, but if you think politicians are a pain in the ass now, wait until the Wii hits US shores. God knows what would happen if Jacko ever saw the newest Wii commercial/trailer where you tilt the wii-mote (ie sword) to slice someone's neck. Only two types of people would tilt a sword to slice someone's neck: swordsman, and gamers.
You know what would have been even more classic? If he followed it up with "In Soviet Russia, Nomad plays you!", because, you know, that would be funny...
If there were more side-scrollers out there, many of them would be cookie-cutter also (I'm not talking about NSMB or Mario Adventure here, more like say, Sonic Advance 3. Sorry, but I truly hate that game despite positive reviews).
If they were mainstream, there'd be 100s of side-scrollers that all have the same old moving platforms, treadmills, spikes, enemies, etc placed in boring, predictable patterns that "we've all seen before".
But... there'd probably be more 'good' ones as well. Hopefully the Wii will re-introduce some of the dormant genres I love.
I doubt they'd give a full 1024 KB. This is the same world where companies can measure the "size" of monitors by measuring the diagonal from the one corner to the opposite corner.
I wish a console version of TGM somehow came over to western shores. Tetris DS is not quite as frantic as that. If you forget what was going on, just use a little... ugh... infinite rotation.
Well, not really. Grandparent is talking about hibernation; the DS (and I think the PSP) only have standby. A full DS battery can last about a week in standby mode, so it's pretty close.
"Hypocrite" is a blanket word used in duckspeak, right up there with "democracy".
You know what democracy means? "rule by the people". How can someone have an approval rating in the 30s and be able to make the rules for another two years before the people can do anything about it?
My country allows opposing parties to make a motion of no confidence in the case of minority rule, but the fact of the matter is, the people can't make this motion. And in the case of majority rule, no one can do anything.
Canada's 2000 general election cost $200 million, while the US election cost an upwards of $4 billion. Two elections a year = about $30 a head. I'll pay that to put a little fear and accountability in our gov't.
Then maybe they wouldn't be able to pass stupid laws like, say, not allowing online gambling.
The SMB3 version was much smoother than the original, and the Battle Game in All-Stars is even better than that (though similar)
If you have a SNES, a copy of All-Stars, two controllers, and someone to play with, then try it out: play SMB3, and pick the Battle Game option. During the game, avoid coins (kill yourself if you get 4). It's fun. At least as far as I can remember.
Nintendo, make a new SNES game that only has the battle game, add some options (like being able to remove coins), and sell it for $1 on the virtual console:)
Well, Google might take old ideas, but they do it well. When Google Finance was released I was pleasantly surprised by some of the cool stuff you could do and how easily you could do it, and the same applies to most of Google's, er, stuff.
Apple took something that was only adopted by smaller companies and said "hey, with our capital, we could make this really successful" and they did. I guess you could say the same about Google actually, with much of their capital being employees that know how to design search engines / stock reports / etc. really well.
Both companies react by taking old ideas, and innovate by making them better. Or at least by marketing them really well, right, Apple?

In other news, it was rumoured that 2 and 2 make 3 so the idea of 2 and 2 making 5 is not outlandish in itself.

Eh, you guys are just splitting toes.
And it gets rated +5 Insightful...

Yeah, classic.

Oh darn, it just got modded funny. Guess I was wrong :(
Yeah, because I always Playstation 2 in the company of friends.
Can we please get over these stupid puns? I think all the hilarity in these jokes has been exhausted ever since before the first one was posted.
I found a good site on Amnesty International's campaign. Check it out here.
A successful one, considering it got a reply.
Oh wait...
Agreed.

This is correct.
:D
There is a GBA version, which is like a SNES, but they said "born on the SNES" so they're 100% wrong
He's insulting the Phantom, not Gametap.
Let's be fair to the people who invested the first few mill. It did seem like a good idea even if it was a long shot.
But as for the later investors, you guys are total suckers.

Well Wave Race: Blue Storm was published by Nintendo and I belive that had ads for Dr. Pepper and a couple other things.
But I agree, Pikmin 2 is product placement done right.
