"Is it not nonsense to compare the charge for dinner at the company cafeteria with dinner at a fine restaurant?"
And that's exactly what the PS3 is; a fine restaurant. The kind that sucker tourists and elite snobs go to. Looks great with classy decor, but the meals, while carefully arranged, are expensive, small, and frankly don't taste any better than something you can get at a less fancy restaurant for a fraction of the price.
Hey, lots of people do love the taste of caviar, and that's ok, but you're going to have to pay through the nose for it. I guess the PS3 will be the same way until a couple price drops.
Well, the controller is more limited than the Revo's. They didn't really copy the Revo as much as they copied the ideas from Kirby's Tilt and Tumble and Warioware Twisted.
Oh, and the pic should also have "wireless controllers" in there;)
(Or more specifically, wireless console controllers that use radio frequencies)
Stupid yes, Greedy no. These consoles cost a lot of money to manufacture, I'm pretty sure both MS and Sony are both losing money on the 360 and PS3 even at launch.
Stupid is actually a matter of preference. To say the pricing is stupid is to argue that most people don't care about power of the console* that much and just want to play the damn games. If that's true, then the Revo could very well take 1st prize. Unless the Playstation brand name is so strong people would jump off a god-damned cliff for it.
* Power affects not only graphics, but also the capabilities of the console that can affect the types of games it can run. My favourite recent series include WarioWare (SNES graphics, though at fast speeds) and DDR (arrows scrolling up a screen). Guess how much I value the power of a console?
Yeah, offering a link to useful information (which isn't just a Wikipedia article on the Wii), pasting in some of the good stuff, and then expressing his opinion. What a whore.
Tell me, under your standard, is there any way of earning karma that isn't karma whoring? Or are you one of those ACs who believes the whole system so broken that honest posters can't possibly gain karma, and the whole karma system is a "game", where the only way to win is to not play?
If they did something so out-of-line that even stupid people (and I mean stupid) got pissed off, there could be a revolution.
Too bad nothing short of something like banning alchohol or putting cameras in our homes would make enough people bother. (The gov't will have to wait at least 50 years before they can go onto that kind of stuff).
"Sadly, the internet age has created a vicious cycle in which child pornography continually becomes more widespread, more graphic, more sadistic, using younger and younger children."
More widespread sure, but how the hell does the Internet empower the other three?
On one side people will say "they're turning us into a police state!" and on the other people will say "we have to combat this serious problem!", but I think every single one of us can agree that saying "the Internet has somehow made the porn more graphic/sadistic/young" is illogical.
"Which just goes to show ya exactly how overpriced DVDs are. CDs as well."
Can't wait until Blu-Ray or HD-DVD becomes the norm (if either do).

The fact that Zonk didn't even mention the "infinite rotation" issue/feature doesn't help.
Also (and I'd be saying this no matter what game is getting reviewed or who is reviewing it), I really hate this: "The sheer number of modes can be intimidating at first". There's something about phrases like this that grate my mind. I'm not the only one like that, right? Anyone?
But I'm looking forward to a DS Lite and Tetris DS.
Luigi gets a floatier jump, but he's also taller, so he can't go through 1-block tall passages even when small. Luigi also has less traction, which is a tradeoff because being able to jump higher is a big help in some parts of the game.
Lost Levels is good, but you sure can't blame NOA for saying it was too hard back in the day.
Now for those with a USB gamepad and a NES emulator handy, I present you the "Lost Levels" of SMB3!
Well, they couldn't emulate the 64, so they'd have to port the game, so they could improve the controls.
IANAL, but if I were to guess, this is how it is: Microsoft, EA, and Nintendo all have a stake in this game (from largest stake to smallest stake, IMO). MS has the game, EA has the license, and Nintendo has the console.
Here's the tricky part; without Nintendo in on the deal, they would have to port the game as opposed to emulate it. If they could emulate it, it's possible that they could circumvent the license (they're just selling an old game, but this would be a trick one, IANAL), but if they port it, EA probably has a case.
Assuming my hunches are right, the most beneficial solution for MS, Nintendo, and gamers would be for Nintendo to allow N64 emulation for that one game in exchange for Nintendo's right to also distribute the game. Then, both consoles get the game, owners of either can play it, and EA doesn't get squat.
But that would never happen because I'm damn sure Nintendo would refuse to give MS N64 emulation rights, even just for the one game.
The only other alternative is for MS to port it themselves, which is expensive, and also pay EA to use the license from EA. It's possible the port wouldn't have to be licensed, but don't count on it.
If you ask me, the only way you're playing Goldeneye this generation is on a N64 or on a PC. Sort of... maybe.
1. Announce game
2. Start working on it 10 years from now
3. ???

All right everybody, we at Headcase88 Enterprises are starting a new game, simply named "Ben". Scheduled release date: Summer 2007. If it takes us much longer than that, expect an awesome game!
Except that the nunchuck comes with the console anyway.

WarioWare is more of a wiid game. Mario Golf and Mario Party are better drinking games.
Well, apparently Nintendo said 20 within the "launch window" (whatever that means!), one third of them first-party titles.
No, but I thought there would be 128 Marios in it, and from what we've seen of this game, it's 127 short.
:D
In related news, whos has seen the new Super Paper Mario (GC) video? It looks sick

"the only real thing we can expect is more detailed graphics"
:(
Unfortunately, if history is an indication, there will be more PS3 and less PS2 games available as time goes on. Hence, we'll be fucked
