  1. Mod Parent Insightful/Interesting, not Funny on Policing Porn Isn't Part of The Job · · Score: 1

The library is EXACTLY the place. There are many reasons for looking at "porn" besides getting off. If it was being done in a library, from a book specifically bought in for its value, then the chances are that this "porn" was actually quite historically, culturally or socially important, and that a lot was being learned from it. I for one am very thankful that the library prevailed in this instance.

Who the Hell is modding this funny? The guy has a perfectly good point. For example, how often do we hear the argument that porn is a driving force behind adoption of new technology? The significance of porn in our society is a legitimate area of interest, as works such as Pornography: A Secret History of Civilisation have explored.

I haven't read TFA (do people still do that?) and for all I know this story is about some sleaze jacking off in a library, but the parent post makes an excellent point regardless.

It seems a person's accent has a bigger impact. People with american (midwest, southern, whatever), Brittish, Irish, Kiwi or Aussie accent seem to have an easier time communicating with recruiters and interviewers than someone with a Chinese, Indian, or even Russian accent.

So you don't think the fact that the former group are more likely to have English as their first language is relevant to their fluency then? Just because someone has a thick or unfamiliar accent doesn't automatically make them incomprehensible, but I can see a case for it aggravating underlying difficulties with the language (a maxim which applies as much to Yorkshiremen as Muscovites!)

Sounds like Mr Podjacked should be the one learning more about Creative Commons, if he thinks that acquiring such a license will help secure his rights and "further protect" his show. Last I heard, CC is about offering additional rights above and beyond the norm, not somehow validating or restricting those rights defined by law.
