where I work is 100% M$, and me and my other senior (whom i movitated to install linux) running Linux (slackware). Okay interesting thing is that there are 350+ desktop machine in the building and can you believe me all of them (-2) running pirated Copy of MS Windows and bundle with pirated softwares ie MS Office etc. No the other side I have three OS install on my box (Slackware, Debian, OpenBSD) with zero piracy:), slackware is my primary desktop. So i'm the proud user in the company.
My co-workers just amazed about my system with no downtime, never reinstall the OS after joing the company, and they have to install there boxes time to time.
Hey did I tell you that its hard to convince them to use Linux, coz they don't have to pay a penny for that crape (MS), nor the company cares after all company is 100% running on pirated windows.
99% of Internet users here (.pk) getting 56Kbps and thinking about 100Mbps is like a dream for us hehe. However who cares google.com.pk open fast here too.
I know how hard is to configure openldap I'm just excited after reading nice comments from people who had use ND.
Redhat really got a better heart then M$ and other "greedy" parties over there.
I just want to know does GPLed ND will cost M$ (AD) and other concern parties in short and long term.
Do you people thinks migration from AD base setups to ND (when it beacome avaiable under GPL) would be beneficial?
Regards
The beauty of open source is that anyone from poor to rich can afford OSS.
All other plateform M$, Mac sucks in this context you have to play billy or the others for each line of code you use.
I'm wondering which linux distro president of brazil is using?
May be my favorite.....slackware:D
Wow first it was S.Korea and now Brazil moving towards open source:), bravo Sérgio Amadeu "We're not going to spend taxpayers' money on a program so that Microsoft can further consolidate its monopoly"
S.Korea moving towards open source is a good step in right direction @ right time. Asia is known for piracy no one care about the legitimate software usage perhaps most of asian don't even know that piracy is a crime:)
Open source is definitely the most affordable (secure) plateform avaible.
I hope other asian governments (IT Minister if they are not corrupts;)) move towards open source , move towards legitimate world.
hey today is the nice day, first I read about how.eu court kick M$ on butt and then on slachdot find about this great news that poland is the only country in.eu gota real IT Minister;)
Its nice to heard that Pat back to work, Slackware is the only distro I use. However there is lot of lessons to be learned from this illness, well health is no doubt important then anything. Being the solo maintainer of Slackware one thing you should do to make a team of competent geeks that also helps maintaining *patching* slack.
present Slackware work style sound to be like my country which is governed by Army Dictator:)
cheers Pat!
As Math is the mother of every sciences if you produce less Mathematicians then you will be no longer the leader in science eh. So Asia > US
