want my documents to automatically organize themselves using metadata
iTunes is a fine example of files being organized by meta-data. I use my mac to rip all my cds and import music through iTunes then just share the iTunes music folder as a samba share to access with other systems. Having directories all organized by artist and album really makes it easy to find something to play in XMMS.
Human beings have been creating art for a looooong time without the protection of the RIAA or MPAA. I seriously doubt that downloading music and movies is going to change that.
People will have their friends place a bid on their auction just so they don't have to pay for setting a reserve price. Like if I want to sell something for at least $50, I'll start it at a dollar and have my buddy throw a $50 bid on it. I think this is the phenomenon you are referring to
There are already versions of cp and mv that support resource forks and file metadata. They are installed as part of the Apple Developer Tools and are named CpMac and MvMac. They get installed in the/Developer/Tools/ directory.
Even better, just use ditto with the --rsrc flag. You don't need the developer tools, it comes standard with OS X.
We still need more detail in these maps... I wanna be able to get directions to my bathroom that warns me of the shoe I left in the middle of the hallway last night.
According to the site, they will be developing a Linux client as soon as exeem is out of beta. By then, hopefully the network will have really taken off with plenty of files. I guess I don't really mind waiting in that case.
I get that too, though the comments usually look more like:
"fgasixx lahtyery;l/d mmmoree toioi dyrbriubknk"
The code looks even worse. Does anyone else have a serious problem typing after only a couple drinks? Or, is it just me?
Judging from the drop shadows in the screenshots, I'm going to assume xcompmgr is going to be built in. Hopefully there will be an option to turn it off so I can still run it on my 233mhz pII laptop.
The site you link to says the show was aired from the early 50's until the early 70's, but I'm pretty sure I remember watching that show when I was a little kid, and I wasn't born until '81. Was there a remake of the show as well? I remember it was one of my favorite shows. It came on right before Inspector Gadget IIRC.
Looks like they are getting closer and closer to being able to locate my keys in my house for me. Awesome.

The only reason I'm replying to you is so that I can see the submit and preview buttons. Hmmm.. Nice buttons.
and downloading the latest Lincoln Park album
I think this is one of those rare cases where misspelling a word makes you look more intelligent than the rest of us.
What the heck are you even talking about?
Excluding the 100 posts before mine, this is the first post!
Ok, maybe I went to far...
I think you meant Acrobat you want to boycott, not pdf. Xpdf loads the document in a snap for me.

BLASPHEMY!!! You'll be burned at the stake for this!!!
Maybe you're hired by Microsoft to do it?
Those fuckers... If I block pop-ups, it clearly means I never want to see them. NO MEANS NO!
That might not be the point, but tell that the gate agent who faced Gilmore's Spanish Inquisition when she couldn't cite the law.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

As if anyone could know that...

Ewww... Thanks alot. I just dropped my iPod on the floor when I read that.
This product seems pretty useful to me right about now, and is far cheaper. =)
