Correct, 722,000 ave cost and I would also guess very rents is causing homeless. No one wakes up on a park bench and says "Wow, what a great night sleep, glad I am homeless".
How to solve, easy, build lots and lots of residential buildings, apartments and houses, saturate the market. A gov. should not have to create a subsidy for cheap housing.
So why isn't this being done, people, large rental companies and more importantly politicians do not want house prices to drop due to a supply increase. So we will always have homeless people in housing markets like Seattle.
by far mutt for me, a distant second place is Thunderbird. Mutt is quick and easy, once in a great while I need to fire up Tbird ofor the occasional html email I need get to a 'hidden' link.
Posting to undo some moderation because I only partially agree with what they said. There still seems to be a lot of discrimination out there but I am do not know how this can be a huge deal in an internet based project, unless you have a name that identifies what 'group/s' you can be in. Maybe it is time for these projects to insist on using 'fake' names or even numbers.
What is wrong with New Hampshire, I say all the other NE states build tunnels to release all polluted air into that state and then use Giant Fans to keep the polluted air in that state. Of course powered by coal plants.
I remember some very old people I new in the 80s were talking about how all the non-profit the hospitals were closing down and for profit hospitals were moving in. They said that prices for medical will skyrocket because if there is one thing sick people will do, is pay to live. They were hoping the government would make for profit medical services illegal. Well I guess we are there now.
The only uncertainty is whether we Americans will get off our collective ass and help fix the problem we helped to create.
I can answer that, we Americans will do nothing about Climate Change, just look an the attempted conversion to metric. Only when not using metric is expensive we will change to it. Defence and most health industries have already converted but the general population ls no clue that happened. So for Climate Change, Americans will need to have a real cost to ignoring it. My first step is for the government to stop subsidising flood insurance and state "due to Climate Change, doing this is too expensive"
crap, meant to mod informative. It is AC anyway.
So I will chime in, I know many people in my area, that regularly loose power and when that happens it is for a minimum of 3 days. All of them have VOIP and after 8 hours no phone and cell is very iffy. I have a land line and only lost it once many many years ago, rest of the time I can call without issue. As the parent said, what can be done over copper is quite amazing, I even read there is a way to use copper to get very high-speed internet, but we are stuck paying comcast et/el to build nonexistent/invisible infrastructure. Funny Ma Bell and no issues with the last mile.
That is controlled by some another group of people, I filed it with them and who knows where it went from there, the fun of being in a fortune 500 company:)
The older kernel worked, 693 had issues with Nvidia (who else). We are not suppose to install the Nvidia binary, so that hardware is 'stuck'. These are models with discrete graphics which cannot be disabled. disabled means setting the bios to use integrated graphics
I hope the replaced kernel 3.10.0-693.21.1.el7.x86_64 with a better kernel:). For some laptops models, DRI had to be disabled in X to prevent hangs. That kernel was applied in 7.3 to fix a vulnerability and was carried over to 7.4.
I think this is a good move, if only Microsoft would do the same.
But, there is some of internal corporate proprietary applications that will start failing when this happens, I can name two of the top of my head. They all use 32 bit java and are designed to work on Linux, MAC and Windows. Until Windows removes 32 bit support, this will make it quite hard for people to use MACs in a corporate environment.
If you cannot afford to pay for Oracle firmware, say to them "I have n customers on Oracle, how about I get these patches for free or I will go to SQLServer, DB/2, postfix, mariadb etc...". And just work the deal
With craiglist personals gone, I suppose the will loose revenue and eye balls.
I wonder if this will be a boon to newspaper print since classified adds were a big money maker for them. IIRC newspapers are protected from these kind of lawsuits.
That idea is bad in so many ways one cannot count. Who decides what "social credit" is ? If a Citizen of China reads anything about Taiwan, Tibet or Tiananmen Square will that decrease their social credit. What about "Term Limits", I just heard that is a banned phrase in China.
What about this post on a US Site by a non-China citizen, will this very post get me marked as having bad social credit in China, thus denied a visa ? I can see China can easily export they thought control to other countries.
Well I guess I will never get to visit that country now. For visa denial, this social credit thing seems to be being done by a lot of countries, even the US in rare cases. But so far at least the US and most countries does not use "Social Credit" for internal purposes.
Actually, no. BU is still having fun with this still on-going after 6 years. I cannot imagine the pain MIT will go through for a Fusion Lab, with everyone hating nuclear power (of any kind) these days.
Well that is all well and good, I can sue yahoo for email I hardly ever use and created with made up data ages ago:) the yahoo breach means nothing to me.
What about Equifax, they should be sued into oblivion including the board members. Far more damaging information was released in that breach to the point I now say "who cares about good passwords now, everything about you is now out in the wild", including stuff you do not know.
I would like nothing better than seeing this built, if even next door to me. But in the Boston Area ? Lots of Luck.
You cannot even build a Dog House in that area without the following:
1. Multiple studies on how it will impact the neighborhood. 2. Protesters showing up at the town meetings, and you have to defend your dog house hundreds of times. 3. Fighting with various politicians. 4. Getting all kinds of subpoenas arriving at your door step in their pretty colored envelopes. 5. At least 1 court appearance, lawyers will be happy. 6. If you are lucky you hit the jackpot. Your dog house will show up as a ballot question which at best will be ignored by the politicians, or more than likely the politicians will decide to do the exact opposite. 7. I will not even mention the cost overruns

I am surprised they are not asking NASA to look for Angels, maybe with how intelligent Congress is I think the misspell angel.

Well it is a way quick to turn off a Windows PC
Well makes for a great system lock
Well at least the screen looks scary, with that on the PC at Starbucks, no one will steal the laptop
I will be here all week, tip the waitresses
For me it is "Crap, why do I even bother reading these announcements from Symantec". Maybe some day I will learn.

These are using RHEL Developer Workstations

Do companies care more about stock holders (or the board) then _________ (fill in the blank)

Formosa. Former British colony. Until 1999
Another proud product of the US educational System, having no shame in showing their knowledge to the world.

Trying to up your social credit already :)

BTW, the nuclear lab was built in the 60's IIRC, back then anything went for construction.

Didn't you now science is now owned by The Pres and his party ?
The Roman Catholic Church use to define science based upon the scripture until I think the 19th or 18th century.
So we (US) have been moving slowly back to that time period, where real provable science is fake and real science is just entertainment :)
Strange times we live in, many people running the US rejects Science were Roman Catholic Church seems to be a leader in science.
I would like nothing better than seeing this built, if even next door to me. But in the Boston Area ? Lots of Luck.

So maybe in 200 years you will see it build :(
Lets see, someone who makes overly expensive electric cars wants to slap a tariff on cars made in China. Call me Capt. Obvious.
If I remember correctly China is pouring a lot into electric vehicles.
