I do know what you're getting at but I do want to defend the "mod scene." There are some who will buy those tacky super bling cases, and there are some who will buy your standard beige tower, and ofcourse there are some who take a middle road. I can't speak for everyone in the "mod scene" but I personally enjoy building something that is unique, I would never buy a generic Dell. I like to bring my case to a LAN tourney and have people remember me because I'm "that guy with the yellow case," or have people bring their friends/families from across the room just to look at my case.

Meanwhile the guy next to me might have the most generic looking PC case, but he's decided to put some really nice hardware in his PC. This is the kind of guy who can draw crowds around his monitor just to see the top-notch graphics in game X. It's all a matter of personal taste (or lack thereof:) and some of us derive great fun out of choosing each and every piece in our PC, recabling the wires and maxing out the airflow. Some of us like to build the most silent PC possible.

You could draw parallels in the car racing/modding scene too. There are drivers who put all their money on aestetics and make the gawdiest Civic in the city, and there are some who blow all their money on their engines, exhaust, and intake. I guess what I'm really trying to say is not to bash us all based entirely on one end of the spectrum. To answer your question, I'd say the target is anyone who enjoys to build/mod PC's as a hobby. In one of the game community forums I frequent we've got kids who are 14-15, and guys who are 30-35 and everyone in between. No one judges them on who they are, just on what they do. Hell they could all be lying about their ages, but it doesn't matter. What matters is whether or not you do something you enjoy, and whether or not you want to meet people who enjoy the same things. (but it matters if you're a creepy child molestor, we don't serve your kind here.)

I'm pretty sure their international defense is that they have nothing illegal on their hdd's, and they don't transfer illegal files. All they have is a database of "stolen property." All they provide is the list of what it is, and where to find it. This is why most torrent sites will have a disclaimer on them that says they don't have these files in their posession.

With that said I ask, is it illegal for a pawn shop to list their items and their address online? Or for the police to list seized contraband in specific districts?

Agreed. Some friends and I have been considering different content delivery systems for a show we're working on and we've ruled out youtube because of their license agreement which basically signs over all content for them to do as they please. Although this is fine for most of the content on youtube (which is mainly pirated, or at the very least not owned by the posters) it wouldn't work for anything that might have a chance to become something more than a free time/for fun atmosphere.

I also don't see why you have to throw around the "FUD" term just because it seems to be the fashionable thing to do these days. Actually I would reccomend the game Rise of Legends which reduces necessary clicking or memorizing all the different keystrokes. Basically (off the top of my head) it has a 12 box (4 x 3) button array, for keyboard, the top row has the keys Q W E and R bound to each button, to get the middle row you do shift + Q W E or R and to access the buttom row you do ctrl + Q W E or R.
So far it has been really intuitive, and its really the first RTS i've gotten into (and played for more than a few times) since C&C and Total Annihilation.
I've also really enjoyed Dai Senriyaku 7 for the xbox, which is basically a larger version of the Advance Wars series. unfortunately it is too complex for my friends to even want to learn to play :(

I've never been arguing the success of the 4x4, I've just been saying that it seems to be the only product AMD has in line to deal with the Core 2 Duo. I was under the original assumption that 4x4 was a single quad core processor. If what you say is true then heres to hoping that AMD has an ace in its sleeve!

I've always been fond of the Jagged Alliance series, and I figure with enough positive reaction on steam it might force whoever owns the IP to finally finish up that Jagged Alliance 3. I think Steam's biggest issue to overcome now is advertising. Right now they have plenty of games for sale but except for the occasional slashdot story, if you don't already have steam you'd never know what they have to offer!

Back in the single core days it was fairly silly to do multithreading right? Now that there's dual core, it makes a little more sense? the Xbox360 and the PS3 both have multi core architectures and they will both be available around christmas and it is necessary for developers to write multithreads in thsoe games right? The 4x4 will be coming out just as multiplatform games start to crawl out, right?

I'm just saying that Intel has this shiney new processor and AMD doesn't have one to compete with, so until they release one, they have to cut the price in an effort to get the people who want a decent machine for low price. The only one we know about is the 4x4, I assumed that since it is the only new processor from AMD, that it would be (or have a model directed at) made for consumers.
I don't understand your argument that only a couple games are multithreaded. If this is your argument against multicore, why does it not stand for Intel aswell? It seems like you're having a hostile reaction (read: fanboyish) to an incorrect assumption about my sentiment that AMD has a major issue on their hands.

I think the significance of the Conroe is that it is an entirely new architecture and it caught AMD off guard as their new architecture won't be out until next year. Because of this newer better chip by Intel selling at a moderate price and AMD has no product to counter it, the only defence they have is extremely reduced prices. Reduced prices means that it is a better time to buy, say an AMDx2 4200+ now than it was say, 3 weeks ago. I imagine that Intel is reducing prices on their current lines to counter AMD's counter, thus it is a better time to buy a computer now.

I imagine things will balance out once AMD releases the 4x4, and the difference in competitive performance is smaller.
