He wasn't implying that this deal would compromise net neutrality in spirit. Towards the end of the article he even states that the deal would not only keep net neutrality in tact, but it would enhance it.
"With servers so close to users, Google could not only send its data faster but also avoid sending it over the Internet backbone that connects service providers and for which they all pay. This would save space for other traffic — and money for both Verizon and Google, as their backbone bills decline (wishful thinking, but theoretically possible). Net neutrality would be not only intact, but enhanced. "
If and when an Iphone is available for Verizon customers, would that open the door to possible Droid phones being available on AT&T's network? Or, would it be possible that Verizon would ditch Droid because Apple wouldn't let them sell their phones on the Verizon network if they didn't? I think Verizon dropping the Droid would be less likely simple because Apple doesn't have much leverage over Verizon. At this point I think Apple needs Verizon more than Verizon needs Apple.
Another poster found this (PDF) which says that the oil spill will not have any significant impact on the hurricane and that hurricanes draw water vapor from a much larger area than is being covered by the oil slick.
When a tropical storm or hurricane eventually goes through the Gulf of Mexico and through this oil spill, is it possible for the storm to pick up the oil and dump it hundreds or even thousands of miles away as it makes its way across land?
I find it difficult to believe that you are such an expert on human nature that you can generalize about the motivations of people who decide to become police officers. Especially when all that generalization really amounts to is nothing more than insulting people who risk their lives to protect you so you can continue to be a dick who doesn't have a clue.
Are their bad cops? Of course there are. But the vast majority of police officers are just like everyone else. They want to go to work, do their jobs, and then go home and be with their families.
Actually, art is something that serves no purpose other than being itself. That is why video games can't be art. Because they serve a purpose. That is why a newborn isn't art despite it's ability to stir up emotions. Because technically that is so we go on as a species.
I have to disagree with your definition of art. If we accept your definition, then many of the people we consider famous for producing works of art would be excluded because one purpose for the art was to make a living.
They could try.
Although I think they would have a hard time convincing people that a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist was denied because his cartoons sucked.
If the SFGate refuses to publish a cartoon that you draw up because it's no good, then that wouldn't be censorship.
However, if they refuse to publish a cartoon that you draw because they deem it to be "objectionable", then that would be censorship.
I can't speak for all MMO's, but Blizzard won't remove your WoW account due to inactivity. I stopped playing for over a year and was able to pick up right where I left off.
I don't know how it is for you, but when I went to the ballot I had the option of writing in a candidate. This would be the same as "none of the above", correct?
To be honest, I kind of prefer Microsoft's approach over Sony's. Granted, I personally will probably buy the HD-DVD player. However, unlike Sony, at least I have the option of paying the cheaper price if all I want is a gaming console ( for the most part anyway, sure it has all the extra stuff, but I think you understand my point ).
Look at it this way, if all you want is a console that plays games, would it make more sense to spend the $400.00 Xbox 360, or the $600.00 PS3 ( for the sake of argument, pretend Nintendo doesn't exist )? Perhaps you just don't have a desire to own either HD-DVD or BluRay.
I think people like you are in the minority however. I guess most people like package deals because it makes them think they are getting more for their money. I can understand their reasoning for including an HD-DVD movie with their HD-DVD player, as well as including a remote. If you have what is essentially an HD-DVD player, then you'll buy HD-DVD movies and not BluRay movies.
It's important to factor in the other things that come with the $199.00 HD-DVD player also. It comes with an Xbox 360 Universial Media Remote which Best Buy has it listed as $29.99 ( Best Buy ). It also comes with the HD-DVD version of King Kong which Best Buy also has listed as $29.99 ( Best Buy ). So, really you are only paying about $140.00 for the HD-DVD drive itself.
No, you don't have to blame the technology. Like the article said, we've had the technology available for quite a while now. The problem is, most people simply don't want any type of media PC. How is this the fault of technology? Demand creates the technology, not the other way around. If people really wanted a media PC, someone would have already created one that people would buy.
I saw a couple of demo's for Wii, and I'm not really all that impressed with it. It's not like Nintendo is creating any new type of games. They are all the same games. It's still a Zelda game, a Mario game, a FPS, or whatever. The only thing that is really different is how you interact with the game. That just doesn't as innovative as everyone wants to make it out to be. Perhaps after it's been out for a while, someone will think up something clever, but for right now, Nintendo isn't doing much different than Sony or Microsoft.
To be fair, I only caught the last few minutes of Sony's press conference. I jumped in right as they were demonstrating the controller while playing Warhawk. From what I did see however, I honestly don't see myself wanting a controller that uses motion sensitivity.
A lot of times when I play games, I like to lay on the couch underneath a blanket. This wouldn't really be possible if I had to swing my arms all over the place like the one guy did. I would also have to think my arms would get tired after a while.
It's certainly to early to make a final decision about the controller, but my first impression isn't a real good one.

I have stopped caring about the story in FF since it's been rehashing the save the world formula
Arn't most games somehow about saving the world, especially most RPG games? Simply saying that Final Fantasy is about saving the world is like saying Moby Dick was just about a whale.
Why is Google being in China such a bad thing? I understand that they are giving into a lot of the demands of the government, but if that enables them to bring their content to the people, it might not be such a bad thing. There have been other reports that have stated plenty of ways around the filters that are in place to censor what people see. What if Google put these in their on purpose? What if these American companies are giving into China's demands now so that they can get in the door only to later help bring about a change in China later? Is this at all possible?
I've always wondered if part of the reason kids are not interested in education is due to the image that people who like school seem to receive.
If you actually like school, then you get branded a nerd and you then become somewhat of an outcast. Perhaps so many kids just want to be liked that they adopt the attitude that school and education isn't for them.
It seems that schools encourage sports activities more than they do educational ones. My school had pep rallies, dances, and all sorts of other activities that focused on sporting events.
One solution to increasing children's education is to have more events that give credit to kids who take their education seriously. The schools should try and do something that changes the image of people who like to go to school and do well.

There was an article in my recent Time magazine that made this same argument.
Or he could just ask like he did. Different method, same results.

I always thought musical taste was a subjective thing. Why is it that because a certain song or band is mainstream, it is automatically crap?
You can certainly say that you like one song over another, but I don't really get how you can say one song is better than another.

Yes, they mentioned this scam via a link to the same website that you have listed.
