Why is it that Lars Bak, who heads up development of Google Chrome's cornerstone javascript engine says, "The web is becoming an integral part of the computer and the basic distinction between the OS and the browser doesn't matter very much any more," and at the same time Google say they are interested in helping the EU prove their antitrust case against Microsoft for bundling IE with Windows.
This seems counter productive to me. If you want the browser and the OS to become one, surely you wouldn't help those sewing someone else for bundling them together.
I find gimp to be the most unintuitive program ever written. I find it simpler to use any other piece of software. Maybe you have to be an artist to understand gimp.
You could consider not using all your mod points straight away. You have a few days. Use them judiciously instead of modding from +4 funny to +5 funny on that anti-Microsoft joke at the top of the comments page!
You're probably right. I know a few plasma physicists who would agree with you that field lines aren't frozen in. However, it's a good simplifying assumption that may help you explain other phenomena. You just have to keep that in mind when you apply it.
Well this hypothesis is even more heretical than you imagine. Think about it. We all know Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. But the Bible says that Eve came after Adam. This theory flies in the face of that. If Mars was made after Venus then the Women must have been made first! Further, Men must have been made from the scraps of Women; rather than Eve being made from Adam's rib.
I would argue that Gilbert "practically invented modern science," since he was the earliest influential early practitioner of the scientific method we know of today (ref: The Fellowship - John Gribbin). Not that Galileo doesn't deserve credit, he was one of the earliest practitioners of the method, popularised it a great deal and had many successes.
Actually I have had a/. submission edited once. (This one.) I actually wrote "It seems hell has frozen over and the fashion industry has taken an interest in the space industry," but they edited out the 'hell has frozen over' bit.
Yes, that's correct. I guess I've revealed my secret identity. When I put the link in I expected it to be edited out. I'm pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. Thank you both for the praise, it is much appreciated. I'm glad you liked the story.
I drove my parents car out of the drive way at the age of two. I stalled it when I got to the street though. Apparently this is a story that needs to be told every Christmas.
I don't get this whole thread. I can dodge a gun just as easily as I can dodge a hammer, no matter the distance. It's the bullets that I have trouble with.
Personally I like to store them all in a hat. Then when I need one I put my hand in and pull one out without looking. I find this approach to be the laziest.
Instead of Yes/No the options should have been, in keeping with Microsoft software licensing tradition, Accept/Cancel.

I'm guessing they won't be able to blog on the investigation whilst it is ongoing.

If someone came at me with a Bat'leth all I'd be thinking is 'Is today a good day to die?'
Well yeah, because your average Physics experiment is still in Alpha!

If you turn off the blood, is it still called Blood Frontier?
Great. There goes any hope of doing any useful wildlife photography.

Instead of looking for water at the poles we should be looking for a Coke instead.

I think he meant light as in low mass. And since photons have no mass he ignored them. Just a theory.
But it's going to look really cool!
If they are only getting mbps on both machines then I'd say there is something else wrong. This story would be more relevant if it was Mbps.

I think your being pessimistic. I'm sure the videos will generate many comments.
Plus silk worms go down smooth.
No, they didn't fake 13 either. The stuff up was real.
Thanks and nice line!

I'm sure your government could do a damn good job of oppressing you even though you have a gun. Do you trust your government to own all the tanks?
