  1. "Cleaning your computer"? Geez, if you have this, reformat. Period.

  2. Re:Ice VII?! on Pockets of Water May Lay Deep Below Earth's Surface (sciencemag.org) · · Score: 2

Thank you, I was afraid there would be no ice nine jokes. That's the first thing I thought of. All is right with the world.

  3. pastebin and gpg on Ask Slashdot: Best To-Do/Task List Software? · · Score: 1

How about pasting gpg blocks in pastebin like I do? I don't host it but it is nice and secure and sufficiently nerdy you can still use vi and cool math. Maybe you want your list to sing and dance, then don't do this, but happiness - gpg + pastebin

  4. update-ability on Why To Choose PostgreSQL Over MySQL, MariaDB (dice.com) · · Score: 1

I started with postgres years ago but I had some bad updates (on Debian) that broke some installations so I dumped it for mysql and haven't had a problem since. Perhaps an unfair, n=1 criticism, but there it is.

  14. Salvo on After A Year, Emacswiki Alternative Shutting Down · · Score: 1

Of course the emacs wiki is outdated and disorganized - it has to reflect its editor and its users. We here in the organized, efficient and beautiful vi community just sit back with a condescending chuckle. We're actually quite good at that and do it often. :wq

  15. including Canada? on Global Warming 'Undeniable,' Report Says · · Score: 1

48 countries including Canada? Why did they say that? Has Canada been demoted in countryship? Is that like 9 planets, including Pluto? Or maybe Canadian research is suspect as there are too many polar bears, or they stand to gain a lot of banana plantation business with global warming...

Really, as long time linux user/tinkerer who hasn't played much in the way of games since tetris came out in the arcades. FPS games and sports games really have no attraction for me. It's the tinkering that is fun.
