What happened to innocent until proven guilty? The court can assume that she is guilty because she wiped her hard drive, now?
Isn't it the job of the _prosecution_ to try to obtain the evidence for a case (eg, siezing the HD with a subpoena), NOT the defendants? Why was the drive even still in her posession.
I think she should be held in contempt, but not declared guilty by default.
That's a completely flawed anology. You're equating eating- a basic need, and the orginized process of feeding a population, with a measure of conveience that people didn't want to give up.
eating = need
slavery = not a need
Ethical issues? We've been raising animals for food for thousands of years, it has been one of the keys to our dominance as a species. Don't believe everything PETA tells you.
I think operating systems designers could take a lesson from these guys (the windows have depth!), but I wouldn't suggest the same thing for window style designers (the windows are ugly!).
The law of the bottom dollar says that if people can provide a service for themselves for free, they will. Most of them anyway.
HTPCs increasingly become easier to build and cheaper to buy. Its always irked me that TiVo would charge you to use a device that you purchased legally. It'd be like Microsoft trying to charge me per megabyte to use my own hard drive. (I probably shouldn't even SAY that...)
Ask yourself: how many people in the world still have milk delivered to their front doors? How many people still have their gas pumped by an attendant? How many people in the world will continue to pay for TiVo?
The most searched term is 'sex' or something like that.
It'd be interesting to see the "search queries" for a picture-based search tool. I bet there would be a lot of stick figures behaving badly.
I run a computer repair business where I have to move from station, to station, to station... (etc.) to get my work done. I was just thinking this morning how awesome it would be if I work on all of these computers (at least on the software side) without getting out of my chair. This kind of thing would be very handy, and probably allow me to get twice as much work done.
BETA. It is unlike google to release half-assed web services. Keep in mind GMail is still being offered as a preview, you can't even sign up unless you know somebody else who has it.
I have a friend who's father is a professional photographer. He has gigabytes and gigabytes of images stored for his customers, should they want to order re-prints.
They're thinking about setting up raid terabyte file server. I can certainyl say that this is good news for them!
by Microsoft AntiSpyware that I have spyware called RealVNC on my computer! I notice it says NOTHING about spyware called Microsoft Remote Desktop.
I know lots of people out here use VNC, for goodness sakes, its SPYWARE now?! wtf
I think VB is a doorway for programmers who eventually get serious. Anybody who knows anything knows that VB isn't the language to program enterprise-class software. Still, VB is a good way to get the kids interested, and some of them grow up to be engineers.
If this language really is the Linux equivelant to VB, you OSS guys should be happy, considering how this, (or something like this) may affect Linux's future.

I'm sorry, but if you figure out a way to make the moon inhabitable, you better damn well score more than a quarter mill off the deal.
If google starts issuing IDs for each user, I wouldn't be suprised if it became more important than a social security number.

Well, from what I hear that guy can be a real (censored).

It is a harsh truth, but I'd rather use VNC on my PocketPC than pay out the end for this kind of portability.

I bet that the barracuda spam blocker would protect against this.
A classic group of beloved superheroes -OR- A nice set of...
well, nevermind, I think you all know where I'm going with this.
I truly hope they didn't model their software after the movie. I don't think an ice-hurricane-over-land would be good for business.
It ins't a drought, it is just because everybody is drinking all the water up!

Google will work out the kinks, they always do.

How about WiFeye? or maybe WiFiEye?

A classic example of policies interfering with progress.
...that 100% of Microsoft employees use sol.exe.
Sweet, that means dial-up should only cost about 20 cents per month! where do I sign?
