Oh. Duh. I have the directtv integrated version. I guess it gets them from the satellite so that won't work for the cable folks. Not such a great solution afterall.
Just unplug the sucker from the phone jack. Sure it starts to slow down a little when you press the "what's playing now" button, but you never get "new functionality". Of course I'm probably missing out on the good upgrades too.
I've always wondered how much of the "bad-ass-apache-admin-handbook" was written by people working in the porn industry. This seems like just the sort of thing they would have mastered way back in the way back. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a handbook somewhere with best practices for serving up the porn.
Sounds like it's time to look for a better material for the wing edges. Something less brittle. Of course, I'm sure they haven't thought of that option already:)
You mean this stuff really is worse than they let on? I just read this article the other day and it struck me as typical goverment "it's not really that bad for you bullshit".
I'd be curious to see how many subscribers they still have. I wonder if it's turned into the desolate wasteland I imagine it to be with everyone bailing for either Wow or EQII.
I played PS for a couple of months but eventually I got tired of it for many of the reasons listed in the parent post. This game *could* be really good based on the scale of the battles. There were a few times I ended up just staring at the battle instead of fighting because of the epic mayhem going on. In the end though, it just comes up short on too many fronts.
My biggest gripe about that game was the empire jumpers who would go to whichever side had the "weapon of the week" such as the Jackhammer and later on the Lasher.
Just another nail in the coffin of the "video games are bad for you" arguement. The Army basically validated video gaming with America's Army. Soldiers in the field playing games to unwind is just icing on the cake.
Over the weekend there were scattered reports of pale, sunken-eyed zombies wandering around. Witnesses said they appeared to be in some sort of stupor and mostly just spent their time shielding their eyes from the sun and groaning something that sounded like "logginserverdown".
I don't think they look at it that way though. From the world of warcraft site:
"The World of Warcraft Terms of Use clearly state that all of the content in World of Warcraft is the property of Blizzard, and Blizzard does not allow "in game" items to be sold for real money. Accordingly, Blizzard Entertainment will take any and all actions necessary to stop this behavior. Not only do we believe that it is illegal, but it also has the potential to damage the game economy and overall experience for the many thousands of others who play World of Warcraft for fun. In order to promote a fun and fair environment for all our customers, we are actively investigating those individuals who engage in this inappropriate activity and reserve the right to take legal action against these individuals to protect World of Warcraft for all those who "play by the rules." If you are found to be selling in-game property (such as coins, items, or characters), for real money, you will lose your characters and accounts, and Blizzard Entertainment reserves its right to pursue legal action against you as well."
I guess you can try to lawyer up the meaning of that paragraph, but I think it's pretty clear they are saying if you make money off in-game content you in violation.
"*The offer is only valid if you sign up a new Anarchy Online account between the 15th of December 2004 and 15th of January 2005. You can play free of charge until 1/1 2006. Should Funcom deem that a too high-increase in server load or other unforeseen events will lessen the experience for existing players the offer will be terminated at our discretion. The free version does not include access to any of the three expansion packs. Should you wish to upgrade to any of the expansion packs monthly subscription and client fees will be added."
Just the basic game with no expansions. Sounds like you might have to pay more money if you want to use the expansions. Guess they feel they finally have a product that people will want to stay and play if given the chance.

We should all just give up and start using our SSN as our /. id.
Ha. That's funny. My fourth grade teacher was Mrs. King too. I wonder how many there are?
to destroy the server...
I am the smoker robot. Smoking is the answer.

People not buying Sony's flawed product is something Sony will just have to adapt to.
"This year more people used the internet than there are people."

I'm more worried about these: Stinger
Waiter, I'll have the 0 ppm water. Thanks.

Anybody still playing this badboy?
They were out over the weekend but are in stock again. Hurry before they are gone again.
Maybe I can get in on the European beta since the game is sold out everywhere in the U.S. Anyone know where to get a copy?

That's not a worm. That's a feature.

It's good they are looking ahead before this kind of stuff really becomes a problem!
That explains why Luke Skywalk....er, I mean Ged acted like that.

Very tempting even without the expansions.
A couple of template packages that are good:
Freemarker
Velocity.
And if you need to perform pdf manipulation: Big Faceless Java PDF Library It's not free but it's a really nice package
Sony has always stood for quality. I wonder if this will start to hurt their reputation a bit.
