    I find the comment that the firewall is unpredictable to be interesting. Do Slashdoters think that this is on purpose so it can't be studied and subverted or is it just a case of banning the BBC when they have anti-Chinese content or is it just a case of a huge bureaucracy being contradictory (as they often are).

    Why does it have to be one program multithreading?
    Maybe a user is applying a Photoshop filter while doing a 3D render while ftping a file. Each can run on a different core.

    Rather that a source code level system I'd prefer a way of replacing loadable kernel modules without a reboot. Then push more code into modules -- eg file system. (Hey sounds like a micro-kernel).

    Size of the machine is a big issue for me.
    I like small for portability.

    I have a nice non-widescreen laptop.
    If the screen was wider then there would be empty space on the bottom half of the clamshell - to the left and right of the keyboard.

    To me... the screen should be the size of a reasonable keyboard. No bigger no smaller.

    Widescreen is a waste.

    The committee should also alter the name (perhaps by inserting "Microsoft") so it isn't so similar to ODF. Its only fair. ODF=OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications. It has the name of the source organization. Renaming OOXML to MSOOXML would make thing clearer.

    DNSSec and IPSec are too fancy.
    Just begin every internet communication with STARTTLS. Works for ftp, pop3, imap, smtp and soon http.
