As a previous poster pointed out, a rape victim would also be visible to all who tuned in to this channel, adding to the humiliation and degradation of the crime. Here in the UK, there is something called 'happy slapping', which is basically a person or group of people attacking someone for no apparent reason, sometimes filming the atack on their mobile phone video cameras. This has extended to rape, which made the situation worse for the innocent party - are you advocating this on an even more extensive scale, with the perpetrators wearing hoodies and scarves round their faces to make them unrecognisable while the survivor is clearly identifiable to all those who want to see?
Are you saying that your own decision to break the speed limit should have been ignored? I was put in hospital by someone whose decision to break the speed limit got their license taken away from them for a short while and I believe that if you continue to do the same, your license should be taken away from you. If I understand you correctly, you are complaining that these cameras are a problem because they catch you in the act of breaking the law - well guess what, I hope they continue to do so. Try not breaking the law and I might have some sympathy for you. Keep breaking this law and you will cause someone a very serious injury and I'll be on their side hoping that you never get to drive again. Your post makes you sound like a sociopath who believes that they should be able to ignore laws like this because it is convenient for them, regardless of the fact that these laws are in place to prevent idiots like you injuring or killing people.
Is 'representative democracy' another term for hegemony? If so, I agree, although if not I ask you to ask yourself how many referenda you have been aware of in the USA over recent years. I ask because in a democracy, the people vote for the laws but in a hegemony the people vote for the people who vote for the laws. Another way to look at this is the people voting for their dictators - those who will rule them for the rulers' own good.
Here in the UK, the standard way for the police to get a person's DNA is to wipe the inside of their mouth with a cotton wool swab. Nice and simple, I doubt it conflicts with anyone's religious belief, but any decent lawyer will still try to prevent it happening because of the intrusiveness of the state holding copies of an individual's (possibly innocent, possibly not even charged with a crime) DNA. If this method is standard in the UK, I'm wondering why a blood sample needs to be taken in the states when this might conflict with a person's religious beliefs. I don't know what religion this person subscribes to, but I do know that Jehova's Witnesses refuse blood transfusions and donated organs because they believe their god tells them to, so it seems reasonable (to me) that giving blood under any circumstances would be an equally good path away from the love of their lord. I'm sometimes ashamed to be British, but with the current state of affairs in America, it seems a better option than to be American, even though I'm under the impression that most Americans dislike what their 'elected representatives' are doing as much as I do
While it would be linux (or maybe other FOSS) all the way if it were up to me, I can see an issue when it comes to sharing documents created with Microsoft software between businesses. For example, if company a uses Word version x, which outputs a.doc format that OpenOffice can't read (yet), then companies that it sends these documents to need to be able to read them. It doesn't seem to me like the best idea to be doing this, but companies still send each other latest version.doc and.xls files, so all companies involved need to be able to read / edit / create these. A much better idea would be for all companies (trading partners, call them what you want) to agree to use.rtf documents, but I don't see this happening on a daily basis. Maybe this is leading to an attitude of 'Jack uses Windows so I have to' among companies, which is ideal for Microsoft, but not themselves or each other. Any clues about how to get round this?
So both sides were helping the terrorists to acieve the aims of the government? Just because the aims were different doesn't mean that the action was different. I believe in deversity aroud the world, so of course different governments will have different aims and ambitions, but getting terrorists to fulfil them seems just as bad whatever you ask them to do
How do you think that a claim that Saudis fund terrorist groups is a relevant part of this argument when the CIA have admitted training Al-Qaeda (initially to fight the Russians)? If the Americans are friends with people who fund terrorists, maybe that's because they have something like this in common
I live in the countryside in the UK - one of the areas that didn't have broadband as early as cities and towns. I have had broadband for more years than you suggest, certainly longer than Java has been used to any large degree. Sure, I was on dialup for a while after Java first came out, but I'm talking about six months to a year absolute maximum. Your implication that a Java application over dialup sounds reasonable is possible but not likely in my opinion. As for hacking NASA - with all their systems, weren't they supposed to be a fairly easy target at one stage?
I agree with your statement of the rest seeming a bit suspect. I haven't seen the video yet, though
Taking personal responsibility for our actions is good, but if you are talking about someone with mental illness, are you saying that they should take responsibility for their illness other than taking medication? I know that there's all sorts of things that can be done with therapy and counselling, which can be very good for a patient who is well enough to be able to deal with them and be able to use them to take more responsibility for their lives and actions, but if the patient is too ill, this "responsibility" turns into the thought that it is their fault that they are ill, which makes things even worse. Certainly a patient who is well enough should be encouraged to take responsiility because that can be used to show them that they are more able to do things than they might otherwise believe, which can improve their state of mind and therefore their health, but this should be used carefully.
I think that the plan was to merge with the well known outfit 'Mechanical Men' to make the full company 'US Robotics and Mechanical Men', but this doesn't seem to have worked out as well as predicted
I don't know if I want details of my personal consumption details made public - I don't want even more adverts for things which aren't quite what I'm interested in - but if this includes things like downloads from MySpace, it might bring more music to the attention of the record labels as something worth investing in, which would be good in my opinion. I'm not sure if it would make the record labels' jobs in selecting who to sign easier due to being able to do a lot of it online or harder due to the increased number of artists available
Excuse me for being mentally disturbed here, but if Christianity is 2000 years old (look at your calendar to confirm this - it's the year that lets you know) and Mohammed was around about 500 years after Jesus, why doesn't that make the version of Islam that he finalised or whatever (according to a previous post) about 1500 years old?
Another question - as I know nothing about laptops, would someone tell me how many CD/DVD bays there are likely to be and if the fuel cell takes up the only one (if that is the case), how would I then use it to rip cds?
Don't you think that one person's freedom to slander, incite hatred against or provoke murder of a person infringes on the other person's freedom from all that just a little?
The legal situation in the UK is a bit different - it used to be illegal to try to kill yourself due to the fear that there wouldn't be enough people left to fight wars if everyone was at it. The government saw sense last century and repealed that law, but if a doctor considers a person a harm to themselves or others due to a psychiatric condition (like depression) they are legally obliged to ensure the patient is kept in a secure place (usually a psychiatric hospital) until they are no longer considered a danger or the doctor gives up on them. This confinement can be up to three months at a time, with further time possible if the relevant professional considers it necessary.

As for the song - I'm also thinking 'Suicide is painless (it brings on many changes and you can take or leave it if you please)'
See the success of the British band the Arctic Monkeys to see how true this is for a lot of people - their original fan base was formed by word of mouth and grew so large that when they released their first album recently it became the fastest selling album in Britain so far
I suggest that the toilets at Reading Festival (probably other similar festivals) are one of the most suitable test environments for this, especially if it is the bacteria that cause the smell - I camped too close to them one year and it was not pleasant

I deny this theory on the basis that it conflicts with the true explanation that the universe was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster
