Aesthetics are important, but they should never override gameplay. I worry about the fate of the up and coming generation console falling on there faces because all they have been touting have been the aesthetics.
I think it'll also be interesting to see when we reach the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_Valley"> Uncanny Valley in video games and how video game developers proceed from there as far as photo realism goes.
Seriously in the long run it doesn't matter who (if any of the two) wins, the fact that there is competition now will hopefully mean better products, innovation and hopefully an overall better deal for the consumer.
More on topic I don't think it matters who buys AOL I don't think either company is going to do anything else than cross plug there own products....
In my opinion it's because society as a whole have stop caring. Right now this generation cares about one thing. ME
I don't really think this is right or wrong for various reasons but it's very sad...
Average Joe really isn't any smarter than a monkey when it comes to doing anything more involved than turning it on, surfing the web etc... It's not that it's hard, it's just that people in general seem to think it is hard and way above them, so they don't even attempt to do anything. Or sometimes they fear they'll do something wrong that'll break it. There are any number of reasons that people give for not wanting to "deal" with there computers.
People fear what they don't understand, and most people don't understand computers. It will probably change with the next generation but right now that seems to be the general rule.
I'd post a "Me too comment" but that has also been done to death...
One thing I will comment on though. What if you're offline? Not hooked up to anything or don't want to be hooked up to anything?
What sort of business model could support this? Subscription based, one time fee, Upgrades, or heaven forbid, free? And even if all that came to pass it still will bring it's on host of problems no one has even thought of.
They don't have to provide new features, improved security or a sturdy OS. They have 10 Billion dollars to make sure Windows Vista succeeds.
As long as it's not a total flaming piece of crap, it'll sell and it'll sell well...
I can't understand why Congress actually waste time and money on stupid things like this.
Why must everything in this country be cured by legislation? Why can't we as a society take responsibility for our own action and the actions of our children? It's common sense yet nobody, especially the media (for obvious reasons), ever actually says "Hey we don't need you to tell us what we can or can't do".
No. The majority don't really care or know enough to care about system specs and their OS.
They just buy the next greatest thing since slice bread that Dell, the TV ads or anybody else is peddling. Most of the time you dont even get a choice for an OS (I said most, I know there are places you can choose), its either Windows home edition or professional.
True, that may be the original intention, but it has become of method of gaining monetary compensation for an authors "hard" work. To a point it is somehwat understandable, the record companies have pushed it far beyond that though.
1. Charge a yearly/monthly/daily subscription fee.
2. Allow user to listen/download burn all the music they want for there subscription with a better quality than what can be found on P2P. Maybe add some perks to having a subscription i.e. lower ticket prices, posters memorabilia etc
3. Make band/singers/musicians work for there money like everybody else, namely go on tour and pack those stadiums to make money.
Have an alternate form of identification that can be easily changed when someone steals it?
How appropriate would it be to have a single numeric password that access all of our accounts that can never change and once stolen will still be the same?
Especially since id theft is becoming ever more popular and advanced?
It may herald the end of times but some more secure form of universal identification other than ones social would be nice.
How most of the next gen consoles (PS, XBox) are trying to be more than a console. Like for example playing mp3's, DVD's, sharing pictures etc.... Well I have something that already does these things and much more. There called PC's.
The gaming companies may win but, not because the have a better/cheaper product but because they have marketing muscle that the PC simply does not have in gaming.

There can be only one!

If anything China should embrace online addiction and create there own state sponsored MMORPG. What better opiate for the masses?
Do you really want to live in a world like that?
Sure.... great.... It would stop break ins, fire's etc...
But whats to stop the goverment from monitoring other things? For our "safety" of course...
Ever read 1984?
Oh that's right, they've allways been[AD] Fair [AD] and [AD] Balanced [AD]....

Bah I should've have picked that up myself....
I blame 5:00 am wake up call and no coffee....
It would be nice to get some honest/objective review of it. All that exist now is it alot of hot air...
Perhaps I should have rephrased my question better, i.e. why should I upgrade in the near future?
I know eventually I'll have to upgrade, I'm just holding out for a product worth upgrading for...
One very simple question. Why? Why is it so much better? Why should I pay X amount of hard earned money to get this upgrade?
I assume there is an NDA but you can tell us something....

It's not like you wouldn't find something else to do other than work even if there wasnt an internet to surf in the first place.....
Now I can get more information about Viagra.... oh wait....

Aside from being able to make oh so clever MS jokes this post is pretty damn pointless.
On a side note anyone else feel a tad bit pissed that the story they submitted got rejected but this made it!!!
Nooooooooooooooooooooo! /shakes fist melodramatically
robots that would work on your car. Then woundering if they would get paid $18.00 an hour, which would be added to my bill as "labor"....
