  1. JUST SAY NO! on Stores Use Discount Cards To Notify Of Recall · · Score: 2, Insightful

Loyalty cards, membership cards.. whatever they care to call them. JUST SAY NO!

For christ sakes, at least credit card issuers are required to provide a privacy statment to it's clients allowing them to opt out. Isn't that envasive enough?

I NEVER use ANY loyalty card. Ever. If they want to profile me (or my statistical type) they can PAY me. Not visa versa. And a "discount" doesn't fuqin count!

When they first started the 2 tier pricing, I'd check out.

    Cashier: Got your bonus card
buyer: no, scan the store card (they never hear that)
    Cashier: your total is XXXX
Buyer: let me ask you.. do you get paid more when you charge more?
    cashier: ?????
buyer: then why the @#*( wouldn't you apply the discount all the time?
    cashier: ???????

They don't get it. Here's the deal.. NEVER PARTICIPATE. You gain NOTHING?

Here's the moral I wish more people grocked:

If you want to profile me you can PAY ME.

You don't pay me with a discount, cause I won't buy without one.

I've never been refused a discount due to the fact I dont have a profile account.
I can't beleive how stupid the consumer is.

That makes no sence. Pit bosses don't hunt you down with *any* forms. As long as you have chips, they're still in the game (and know you can be a player). Casinos never want to intimidate players (remember the odds). The problem occurs when you want to become liquid above the 10k (prolly less now) range. Then the casino has a (federal) reason and obligation to intimidate. Until you threaten liquidity, they're in the ass-kissing mode. When you want to become liquid... then you gotta answer questions.

  4. Re:Ouch for card counters... on RFID Casino Chips · · Score: 1

Real "card counters" that work the casinos are usualy a "club". Club members NEVER play tables with other players. Players NEVER cash their chips (other members do this at 8k wacks). Most club members play the whole table with 200k-300k and play the clubs "system". Sometimes they win, sometimes they loose. Most club members are comped anything they want. Most club members don't use their real names.

When/if recognized, casinos pack "club members" suit cases, place them at the front door, and have the pit boss politely escort the "club member" out.

Club members tend to frequent casinos when it's real busy (fights..ect).

Most importantly betters NEVER cash their chips.

RFID will make a mess of clubs.

First off, let me comment that your reply is one of the most intelligent replys I've seen in a while, opening up a discussion.

"Reguardless of what "they" told you, there is no such "90 day depreciation period" you claim to speak of. Maybe in some other retail markets, but definately NOT computer components, supplies, or blank media. And definately NOT blank media most of all. The price stays at what the market can bare. period. With the big high volume outfits setting the pace."

I have to disagree with you here. I manage anywhere from 800k to 150k in inventory. If I haven't moved the avg product in 90 days, chances are I can buy the same product for less then my ledger ballance (not accounting for the cost of the money I borrow to buy the product). At 90 days a sale at my ledger ballance is not only profitable, but it frees up liquidity that my lender has made me pay, incase of emergency liquidation. The lender surely isn't going to be out of round, if they have to posses the chattle.

With the speed of technology, Id venture to say 90 days for computers is pushing the edge. Probably smarter to stay on a 60 burn for them (running inventory).

So retailers not only have to deal with market trends, but must keep depreciation in check. No matter how much you make on the front half, the business survives by proper inventory management of stock levels due to depreciation.

thats all i have ta say bout that!

A large retailer tell the manufacturer or wholesaler what to make MSRP.

EVERYONE work on a cost VS price spread, regardless of what they've told you.

In 90 days a product depreciates enough to make selling at "cost" profitable.
