The GP doesn't mention this outright but presumably he got it working with Windows after ditching Samba.
I would wager most people would rather be dumbasses with a working printer than a smartass with a broken one.
(While I'm on the subject of Kennedy...how come we need a 15-year timeframe when it's almost half a century later than when we had a 10-year one? Don't we have better technology now? Couldn't we make the next Apollo flight in a year or two?)
The competition/threat of world communism/nuclear war experienced during the Apollo program is fortunately present anymore. Todays threats dont work quite as good as incentives. bin Laden doesn't build rockets (at least not ones that go to the moon......on second thought forget the above statement on nuclear war...).
I think installing the "Tabbrowser Preferences" extension could get you better support for middle-clicking javascript links etc.
For the closing tabs with middle button problem check/reinstall your mouse or try removing any funky mouse software.
Skype is superior to SIP in a couple of ways, most notably perhaps the ability to traverse NAT on both ends without fiddling with port forwarding or UPnP. This is a pretty significant issue for non-geeks as NAT routers are becoming more and more prevalent.
I couldn't disagree more about the extended warranty. It's money down the drain. The same goes for insurance in most cases (when we're talking about insuring hardware that is, liability insurance and the like is another matter). Instead just allocate a heap of money for buying new things when they break.
"...maybe it's time for manufacturers to install a HardReset button (like in a PDA) with a 1 GB ReadOnly Flash drive, which resets everything back to factory."
Totally. I bet the manufacturers just hate it when people prematurely trash their computers and BUY NEW ONES.
I think not. If Linux itself was simpler, more straightforward and demystified, now that would be something.
At present Linux' only major advantage over Windows on the desktop for Joe User is the price. And everyone has already paid for Windows.
Great for the hypocondriacs among us, or just people who like to spill things and generally do disgusting things by their computers.
If Howard Hughes had a computer, he definitely would have had a rubber keyboard.
I for one would like to see an open source video streaming format that works well in all the major browsers.
There doesnt seem to be one ATM considering that whereever there is streaming content there is either Quicktime, Real or Windows Media. Perhaps this is an area where open source just cannot compete?
Only if the relief effort alredy has got more than enough funds for all their needs is a contribution pointless.
Your argument is like the old and stupid saying that voting is pointless because "What possible difference can one single vote among millions do?" If everyone reasoned like that democracy would be dead and no relief efforts would ever be undertaken (not to mention all the stuff that wouldnt exist because the atoms it consisted of would be too small and insignificant to matter).
...give the developers a lego kit. They seem to have failed to grasp the basic mechanics of "Lego legs". They do NOT allow for any sort of twisting motion whatsoever. Furthermore, their feet are not flexible since they are made of hard plastic. What is the point in making a "Lego game" if you don't follow the rules of Lego?

...Google apparently aren't working on a main battle tank or a replacement for the Space Shuttle either.
The only drawback is they lose some of their stealthyness due to the giant solar reflector beaming sunlight down the periscope.

Yes.
Well, your P-75 probably has the advantage of virtual memory. Embedded devices usually don't.

Anyway, I dream about building a space shuttle with Lego... real size, of course.
That's nothing. I dream about building one at 2:1 scale.
Geeks don't RTFM on the first attempt!
Don't you mean idiots?

Excellent example because as everyone knows the bed-and-bucket method is actually how energy is produced.
