The thing is, at the time when IE was shipped with windows, browsers were new to the average user.. The average users first experience with a computer was windows with IE already installed. Yes netscape was popular, but it was among the nerdy crowd
The difference now is, the average user already knows about google. Google has become a common word (which google doesn't like but oh well), you hear people talk about "googling" something on tv shows, radio, on the phone, etc.
Google came out AFTER the average person started using the internet, and now its become popular.
If MSN becomes default, those users will still type www.google.com because that's what they're doing now anyway
I just checked my invoices from 2004.. I purchased 14 items and paid $87.50 for shipping
I would have saved $8.50 with this.
Now an $8.50 savings doesn't seem worth it.. But then if I had paid $the 79 I would gotten all my items in 2 days (a few of the 14 used free shipping). And when I shop, shipping cost plays a big role. I look for free/cheap shipping. Had I amazon had this in 2004 and I got it, I'm sure I would have ordered at least 30 items from them (probably more, seeing as I purchased about 50 dvds last year and probably would have purchased all of them from amazon to have them in 2 days.. Cause I like having my dvds fast so I can watch them on the weekend =P)
My PSU, which has been giving me problems for years (voltage flucations.. +5V always running in the 4.xx area for example), has gotten worse lately
Last month, occasionally my drive would click off then spin up and lock up my pc.. the power was dropping too low
I just ordered a new psu today and a voltage regulator today.. then a few hours later my hard drive shut off like before.. usually rebooting fixes.. well it didnt this time, the PSU is gone.. but not gone enough that I cant run Ubuntu from my cdrom drive
so here i am, running Ubuntu.. i was able to go on to the site i ordered my new psu and change the shipping from ground to overnight.. so i should have my new psu tomorrow instead of the 11th
yay ubuntu
p.s. what happens when i run out of free ram using a live linux cd?
My TiVo was $70 brand new from amazon (ok 170 with a $100 rebate).. It was a 40 hour, I bought a 160gig weaknees kit, its now a 230hr (basic quality, same as the 40hr rating), total cost:
$70=$170 (ugrade) = $240.. I think the 140 retail box sells for like $260 after rebate
Either way, way cheaper than building a pc and trying to get it to work with my old 1998 tv tuner (I guess I could buy a new one but that's more money)
your average user can't pirate because they have no clue how to install windows
they're the ones who never patch
now pirates wont be able to patch either
this means 100% of windows users will now become virus spreading gaping holes because the people who do update wont be able to and the others still wont update as usual

Yeah I included all 3 validation parts even though they only need 1, I wanted to be sure =P
Odd, I had constant headaches for 5 years.. I was using CRTs (good quality ones at high refresh rates). Then I got an LCD.. Once I got over the ~3 hour "learning curve" (kept noticing "this is an LCD" and weird viewing angle problems and whatnot.. Now I cant tell the diff between my lcd and a crt.. Other than CRTs are horrible deformed and ugly)
Now I never have headaches.. Ok that's a lie, I never had headaches until I started using CRTs at work again.. But the time when I was just on LCD, my eyes were great and I never had a headache.
I hate CRTs and I can never go back, too much eyestrain and problems, LCDs are great (especially with ClearType on XP)
I think the problem is that people don't give it enough time. When I first got my LCD I turned it on.. And hated it.. But I lived with it for a few hours.. Now my eyes hurt when I'm at a PC without it turned on.
The fact is, it's better for your eyes to have it on. I get bad headaches when it's off and I'm reading a lot (same applies to reading on a CRT.. I can never go back to CRT.. But I also hated my LCD for a few hours when I first tried it, now I can't live without it)
You just need time to get used to it, it doesn't looked blurred anymore to me, it looks perfect.
I get what you're saying but the goa'uld arent just powerful because they're immortal, its because they evil and crazy.
The immortality just helps their lie. Also their craziness is caused by repeated use of the sarcophagus. Hopefully modern immortality medicines don't have those side effects/takes stargate way too serious
2.2mb here, running XP SP2 with themes turned off
I have several BASIC books for my TI 99/4A from the 80s.. And that's how they were back then, in big 3 ring binders.
Wonder why that stopped
Safe.. Until you get arrested for hacking!
they made a joke about that in an episode
peter says like "so that's where they went!" and he grabs his testi-chin and puts it in his pants.
heh

Castration as punishment? That conversation must have come from the offices of EA Games
Because it's SciFi?
What nerd goes out on a Friday night??
Hell I look forward to fridays because its the day i get to stay home and watch stargate and DVDs
The article description might not but the article title does:

Yay tivo
No where on the site or the articles does it say they're open matte.. If that is true then nevermind. But if that's false, MGM sucks.
Either way, might as well do the $7 thing since you get to keep the DVD anyway and make some $$ =P
Try reading the actual article next time
This class action suit is because MGM took the FULLSCREEN cropped 1.33 versions of the films, cut the tops and bottoms off and sold them as WIDESCREEN
These are NOT original aspect ratio (OAR)
MGM lied and sold fullscreen movies cropped as widescreen.
I have 5 MGM dvds I'll be trading in because I ONLY buy widescreen

Anyway it went through easily with no problems
AOL has had their own special usenet interface for years (and it's horrible)
They're killing that, but you can still access usenet if you have a news server and a news reader client
Nvidias volume control software for nforce based motherboards with onboard sound use directx
Directx has been used for things other than games for years
Hell my tv tuner card ive been using since 1998 uses directx
search for "+a" and you get over 4000 results
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=%22%2Ba%22
The Canadian google groups still has the old interface: http://groups.google.ca
Yay Canada is good for something after all! =P

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people"
Didn't you get the memo? They changed that phrase months ago.
It is now officially "Guns don't kill people, P2P developers kill people."
You: "went down"? Can you please elaborate.
With space routers, going down has multiple meanings.
