Old light guns made the targets white and the gun would sense that reflectivity, you'd hold the gun right next to the screen and never miss.
This brings me back to the days of the old NES and Duck Hunt. How did they make it accurate at a distance though? You could be standing back pretty far from the TV and still make pretty accurate shots, on an old 8-bit CPU. Can anyone explain the technology or provide a link?
I'm sorry I horribly messed the quote up. I know it's not Cartman's mom, can't think of who it is now. I apologize in advance to any hardcore South Park fans. Please don't pwn my Karma for it *sniffles*
There was a movie that perfectly captured the Douglas Adams experience, the combination of bitter sarcasm and sharp imagination, the droll British wit and whale-exploding slapstick that infused his novels. And that movie was Shaun of the Dead. That movie was not, unfortunately, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Why did this get modded flamebait? I wasn't trying to start a flame war. I was simply presenting the very same view that many people in this country believe. Many people believe that the heavens and everything were created by God in six days; many people don't believe in evolution, they choose to believe in intelligent design. While my take on the whole matter was an attempt at dry humor, I hardly think it should have been modded flamebait. Either we have Gov't trolls modding on/. or something is seriously wrong here.
From TFA: "--Robert N. Clayton, The University of Chicago, for his contributions to geochemistry and cosmochemistry that provided insight into the evolution of the solar system."
Blasphemy! God created the heavens in six days, it was intelligently designed (TM) from the start! Blasphemy!
Balanced Technology Extended (BTX) is a more efficient desktop system design that was developed as a follow-up to the ATX form factor specification. Since its introduction in 1995, ATX has been the industry standard in chassis design.
It's also proprietary stuff like this that is keeping Gateway down with the other bottom feeders.
Will the sudden departure of Wayne Inouye and a slumping stock price leave the computer maker open to a buyout or takeover?
Probably not. Nobody really cares about Gateway anymore... They aren't doing anything innovative and the only thing they've ever had going for them was that stupid cow.
There is no monthly fee. The fee is only for the Xbox Live 'Gold', which features online multiplayer.
Slow down, MS fanboi... Microsoft has shown they want to move from traditional purchase-once to subscription based services... this may not be the way it is right now, but I bet it's part of their whole "renaissance" plan.
So this game is basically WoW without monsters to kill to get items to kill bigger monsters to get better items to kill bigger monsters? How can it be any fun?
From TFA: "He said that Vista would drive PC upgrades..."
This is just what we need, an OS that forces you to upgrade your hardware for it to run efficiently. Great job Microsoft!
...which would help game sales (Windows game sales), and gave an impressive demonstration of how Vista improves the gaming experience through better file organization.
They plan on improving the gaming experience through better file organization? What?
The whole reason Microsoft is doing this is to protect their ass(ets). If the customers that use their products are sued and can't afford to keep purchasing Windows embedded (or whatever it is) then MS looses out on a lot of money. Honestly though, is this ethical for them to be doing?
The worse re-use of a video game character is when they made that Pac-Man 2d side scroller for SNES. From what I remember the game played horribly and didn't offer nearly as much fun as the original.
You are the battery. Didn't you watch the Matrix?!
Ahah, but then we would have to be submerged in tanks full of some weird liquid with tons of electrodes connected to our spine and arms and stuff and I think the electronic clothes would short out. But yeah, the Matrix rocks.
...am waiting for TFT embedded clothes that could change the appearence and mood of your clothes on the fly. Heh, it would be awesome, but where would the batteries go?
Why is it that every time I offer a differing viewpoint from what should be *PC* or if I don't instantly agree with the article I get modded troll? Yes, I know I can be harsh with my words. However in no way was I attacking anyone in general. I don't care if homosexuals marry each other in the game. I think it's stupid that Blizzard would not allow such a thing. But why am I not allowed to voice my opinion when I say marrying in a video game is stupid in general? I thought this was a site with such *great* discussions, yet every time there is someone with the slightest negative comment, whether it is constructive or not (as I believe mine was) they usually get modded troll. Mods need to stop playing favorites and being biased, this site is supposed to be unbiased so that all opinions and views are shown. If I think it's stupid that people marry in a video game, I should have every fucking right to voice that opinion (without fear of being modded troll.) It's not like I posted something like "OMG TEH NERDS WANT tO Get MARRIED LOLZ!!!1"
When I said Give it some time, and people will be requesting to marry their pet / minion / whatever screaming "IT'S MY RIGHT DAMNIT! I only meant to inject the post with some stale humor, not to offend any fans of beastiality. I heartfully respect your right to play with animals, although it may be illegal in some states.
...who thinks that getting married in a video game is fucking weird enough, let alone same sex marriages? WoW, what has this world come to? Give it some time, and people will be requesting to marry their pet / minion / whatever screaming "IT'S MY RIGHT DAMNIT!"
Greek and U.S. officials in Greece apparently had their phones tapped for over a year before the 2004 Olympics.
Mod me troll like I'm sure you troll mods will, but honestly who the hell cares about this? People are getting tapped constantly in the US and elsewhere, how is this story even remotely interesting to anybody but the person who posted it and the mod who let it through?

In the words of Cartman's mom:
"Wha wha wha WHAAAAT?"
1. upgrade my RAM to 708MB
:-P
Not to be a troll, but I think you meant 768mb

The e-mails include a handful of temporary Web addresses that host off-limits content and springboards to other forbidden sites.
So is this why I keep getting port scans from those chinese IPs?

Moore says the company is planning a PC gaming renaissance through the Vista Operating System.
Welcome to the new renaissance, where we download all of our games directly from Microsoft and pay them a monthly fee.

Are all of A9's chairs still intact?

1999 called. They want their joke [suck.com] back.
Ahaha that site is great. However, the best part is I've never seen it before (kinda weird, ehh?)
Is it just me, or does there seem to be an increase in terribly misleading headlines on /. lately?
/. is a great site and all but I think some of the mods need to be bitch slapped.
I totally agree with you. But whenever I voice my opinion about it, or the quality of stories on the front page, I get modded offtopic or troll...
