I wonder how they will integrate the creeps in suits with the "Hands of blue"....
Admins?... npc's?....
I'd imagine may be too powerful for a regular character.
Ok, so they expect the oil should last MUCH longer than previous estimates have guessed.
A whopping 122 years into the future.
My question, what happens then? No more oil for gasoline, lubricants, PLASTICS....
think of how many things in our society is made of plastic, from our food containers,
and wrappers... computers, electronic components, almost EVERYTHING in hospitals.
I hope we can plan more long term than this.
And not continue with the attitude:
"Sure, we have plenty... but humans will have to just figure something else out on their own later on"
That would just be selfish.
I think it's an awesome Idea, using the plentiful water as coolant.
But I hope they thought about clogged, and buildup, such as barnacle.. (VERY small eggs)
LOL... BOOM..... because of such *little* critters.
One of the challenges in accomplishing invisibility, will be your own visability.
If all light is bending around you, and no photons are making their way to your retina, then how do you see?....
You would have to use some alternative spectrum?.... maybe uv would work?
Yeah, how about parents start doing their job by paying attention to their kids. Not letting TV or the internet raise them!!!
and.... hell increase the penalty for sexual abuse.
--First offence: chemical castration. (They will never get a hard on again.)
--Second offence: Death penalty. It is a pathological problem that will not go away. And I believe does not deserve sympathy. End the social cost to the government.(to us in taxes), and end the potential pain to the children by ending the creep.
I would make it so Genetic memory is more active. Maybe even have it so we are Asexual. (don't get me wrong... there could be other ways of physical pleasure other than procreation)
What if there was an egg within us. With an extremely dense shell. Upon our death, we give life to the next generation in the family line.
Would have to worry about raising the infant only a few years, then the genetic memory would kick in, and we would in a sense be re-incarnated. with a new sense of self. like accessing old data on a backup hard drive.
What about people that currently run older machines?... how well does it operate on an Athalon 750 with 512 of ram, and a 32m Nvidia Ge-Force 2 GTS? Really!...... i'd like to know! because my budget isn't looking too good for upgrades for a while.
Problem, is that even if there is intelligent life out there, (which i believe there may be) by the time we recieve a message, the civilization may be gone extinct, or just so evolved beyond our own level (technologicly or biologicly) that we couldn't communicate with them anyway.
If there was a species out there that sent messages out into space, they would have had to do it around the same time of development that we are in. that could have been billions of years ago. Even if they are still sending messages out... to unknown recipiants (or each other) if they are even a bit more advanced than us, do you really think that they would still be using the radio spectrum to send those messages/signals? if a species did become intelligent, and it's civilization lasted long enough to get to our level, or beyond; if they were even a thousand years more advanced than us(much less a billion or two) I think they would have a means of communicating that is so far beyond us now, that it would be worse than cro-magnum trying to figure out messages sent via satalite, with no computer. we don't have the capability to recieve such messages, language used, programming language used, or even an understanding of the means of which the message is being transmitted.
If there is life out there. I don't believe that we can understand there messages, or even HOW they are sending it.
Here is an idea, Fix what's f*cking it up in the first place...
it's so STUPID how we allways just try to fix the problem by putting a bandaid on the symptoms, but do not address the real source of the issues.
I am ashamed of how short sighted we all are. Nobody considers the consiquences of our actions... what it will do for the future..... just let someone else deal with it then.
We keep it up, it'll be too late, and the dammage will be irreversable.
P.S. This applies to many situations.... not just global warming.
Hmm.... sounds like the pre-AOL ICQ!
those were the days......... ^^
MSN - Ability to change your nick. Ability to accept or decline others from adding you to their buddy lists.
AIM - Ability to set auto-reply messages. Direct connect for quicker file transfers.
Yahoo! - Ability to send messages to people that are offline that they will receive next time they sign on. Ability to go invisible.
Once again we(I) bow and pay our(my) respects to the boys(and girls) in black(or whatever color they may have on)
Thank you. I think in a land that has almost no enforcement, it is nice to have these individuals who will help the vulnerable. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want it a harshly controlled environment, where you say the wrong thing and get in trouble; but i think for these individuals to take on this, is actually a noble thing for them to do...
heheh.. next thing you know, they will be writing worms that use a newly found vulnerability of a piece of software, or OS, and automaticly patch the whole before it can be exploited. and then make it so it is self terminating after a certain date.
I have this theory... I think we are all going to be $crewed in the long run. In nature species tend to evolve to accommodate a NEED.... for survival. IE: scientists think we started standing erect, to reach higher fruit. All of our needs for survival are handed to us.. on a platter and in a grocery store. There is no Need that we are pushed to... in order to survive. Except the "need" to keep a bad job doing some mind numbing repetitive job. Which I think over time (many many generations), may contribute to a trend of negative mutations instead of helpful ones. (heheh this is only part of my little theory...)
I don't know.... I think because of our wonderful technology, drugs, and society, we have been removed from the process of natural selection
, and I fear what the end result may be... are we just crippling ourselves?... what do you think?
P.s. I have a little more info on this.... Does anybody think I should do a separate new thread with all this?...
whats the problem with viewing tv shows online?
i don't see whats so bad about that...
the majority of people still watch it on tv...
who here has missed an eppisode of there favorite tv show?... and then how long do you usually have to wait till the network deciedes to do a rerun on that eppisode?.... 346580 years.... or so it seems... and if that show fits into a story line.. you have missed that part of the story.. and is just annoying to fill in the blanks..
in general.. i think it makes far happier fans...
that get to see the tv show they love so much... but without the wait time...
nobody used to complain about people taping there favorite show on VHS... and then maybe lending it to a friend of theirs that had missed it.

This would be a cool technology.
I'd like to draw my own designs.... have it cycle through some of my artwork.
(Officer into his radio)
..suspect wearing a red.... no.. yellow... no... blue....
..........He's wearing a jacket... don't ask about the color."

I wonder if there is something written in code.... ...within the novel The Davinci Code?

Thats what happens when the water splashes up. Damn 2000 flushes...
yeah.... that's what we get with the whole "homeland security... blah blah blah...."
we keep giving them more and more power......
now we need to sit back... and figure out how we can take it away...

sentient or not, nature has it's way or ballancing things out. weather it's disease, biological adaptation, global warming, *Snowball Earth, or any number of things, there are dellicate systems made to adjust, and sometimes repair the dammage. HOPEFULLY the dammage we have done, is not perminant. *RE Snowball Earth: http://www-eps.harvard.edu/people/faculty/hoffman/ snowball_paper.html
